The other night, Cutie Pit Creampuff the Pit Bull noticed that her favorite boy was about to get out of bed for a moment — about to leave her! — and decided there was only one way to stop him.

Rescue Dog Snooze ButtonBARCS alum Cutie Pie Creampuff (that name!) is the snooze button enthusiast in all of us. “No, no, no little human, we go back to sleep and back to snuggles, plz.”

Mom Farrah Stull Ader says that 11-year-old Logan and Cutie Pie Creampuff — a/k/a Cutie Pie, or CPCP — have been joined at the hip since the dog joined their family in 2013, adopted from Baltimore’s city shelter.

Logan and all five of the family’s dogs are close. He is, after all, in charge of feeding them.

But he and Cutie Pie share a special bond. She’ll wait for him, outside any closed door. They play fetch every day, says Farrah. “She is also glued to him while he plays video games.”

Bailey Deacon, spokesperson for the BARCS Animal Shelter, says what makes Cutie Pie Creampuff’s domestic bliss especially poignant is that when she got to the shelter some three years ago, as a stray, she seemed depressed and withdrawn.

“How funny that a shut down, stray dog — one that was so sad in shelter that she barely showed a glimpse of personality — would turn into a hilarious doggy snooze button,” Bailey says. “One that understands that if the covers stay on Logan, the snuggling continues.”

Farrah says Logan’s rapport with CPCP is no surprise. He is vegan, a lifelong animal lover and terrific animal advocate, who organizes toy drives for BARCS.

(It runs in the all-vegan family: Farrah proudly describes her 16-year-old daughter Kayleigh as “a crazy cat lady already — we have four rescue cats that are her ‘babies’ and she’s really into animal/environmental activism.”)

Cutie Pie Creampuff loves the cats, and the other dogs. She also loves playing ball — to the point of derailing an occasional soccer game.

She’ll even deign to climb in bed with other human members of the family, though she doesn’t seem as heartbroken when they show signs of getting up.

“When she’s in bed with my husband and I, she tries to wrestle with our other dogs. Or she just sleeps,” says Farrah.

Because most of all, Cutie Pie Creampuff loves her Logan.

And even more than that, she likes the two of them getting into bed. And staying there, if you don’t mind.

Well, despite Cutie Pie’s best and most adorable efforts, Logan did get out of bed the other evening. But all was well, in the end.

“She just followed him around until he settled back in,” says Farrah. “She likes to go to bed early.”
