MASTERCHEF ALL STARS WINNER CALLUM HANN LEADS THANKYOU FOOD

Social enterprise Thankyou has appointed MasterChef All Stars winner, Callum Hann, its Chief Taste Officer (CFO) to lead the new Thankyou food range. It comes as Thankyou have been urging Coles and Woolworths to stock their range to make a bigger impact on those in need. Thankyou has helped improve the lives of millions of people in need since launching its initial water product Thankyou Water in 2008. Another new range, Thankyou Body Care, has also been launched.

THE FED SQUARE WINE AWARDS (Melbourne)

PARRAMASALA FESTIVAL 2013 (Sydney)

Parramasala will return for its fourth year from 4 – 7 October this year, across the Labour Day long weekend. THE ROCKS AROMA FESTIVAL (Sydney)

The Rocks was filled with visitors on Sunday 21 July, as The Rocks Aroma Festival took over the laneways of the area. The Festival was presented by Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, with 24 boutique roasters offering a wide vairtey of beans and blends. One of the biggest events of the day was the creation of the world’s largest coffee mosaic, with volunteers breaking the World Record with a portrait of Dame Edna Everage made of 8000 cups of coffee. The inaugural ‘Aroma Cup’ as part of the festival is still going with public voters voting for the makers of the best coffee.

THE ROYAL FACELIFT (Sydney)

Leichardt’s hotel, The Royal, will get a new facelift and top quality food and drink, following the takeover by Sydney hospitality group W. Short Hotel Group this month. The Hotel has been on Norton Street in Leichardt since 1886, and will fully relaunch in late August this year with a new dining area, terrace, functiona reas and bar space. Taste Orange @ Sydney 2013 will take place on Wednesday 21st and Thursday 22nd August, with some of the Orange region’s finest food and wine on offer. Happeningin Martin Place, both day and night festivities will occupy the space, with a Pop Up Wine Bar from 5pm-8pm and free entry, wine and food tastings, cooking demonstrations plus live music and entertainment.

THE GOOD EGG AWARDS (Sydney)

The Good Egg Awards are presented in Australia by the RSPCA, to recognize large scale manufacturing, retail, public procurement and food services organisations that have made the switch to cage-free eggs. This year’s event took place on Tuesday 20th July, and also included the inaugural Great Cage-Free Cook Off, with four of Australia’s top foodie journalists going into battle to cook the best omelette with cage-free eggs. ‘Good Eggs’ for this year include Coles Brand Eggs, Ikea Australia, and Alligator Brand Fresh Pasta.

SYDNEY ROYAL WINE SHOW JUDGING PANEL

The Macquarie Group Sydney Royal Wine Show has announced Lisa Perrott-Brown MW as the 2014 international wine judge for 3-6 February 2014. NICKELODEON’S SLIMEFEST (Sydney)

Samantha Jade, Justice Crew and US duo Heffron Drive will perform live at Nickelodeon’s second annual SLIMFEST, joining previously announced headliners Big Time Rush and Guy Sebastian. The event will take place on September 27 at Sydney Olympic Park Sports Centre. A one-hour special featuring highlights from both shows will air exclusively on Nickelodeon on Monday 30 September at 5pm.

THE AUSTRALIAN GARDEN SHOW SYDNEY

The Centennial Park will play host to Sydney’s only large-scale outdoor garden show, the Australian Garden Show Sydney, from 5th – 8th September this year. The event will combine interactivity with gardens, design, sustainable-living and culinary delights. Displays from some of the biggest names in the horticultural and design business will be featured, including Chelsea Flower Show gold medalists, Tom Harfleet and Jim Fogarty, French vertical garden expert Patrick Blanc and a host of other landscaping and design personalities.

SELLING DREAMS: ONE HUNDRED YEARS OF FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY (Sydney)

Curated by the Victoria and Albert Museum, the free exhibition ‘Selling Dreams: One Hundred Years of Fashion Photography’ will be shown at the State Library of NSW from 10 August 2013. It shows the evolving art of fashion photography, through the lens of famous photographers including Horst P Horst, Irving Penn, Richard Avedon and Tim Walker.

ISOBEL AND THE PATISSIER AT DENDY NEWTOWN (Sydney)

Dendy Newtown will present the world premier of Australian short film Isobel and the Patissier on Wednesday 7th August at 5:30pm. The film was shot on location in Sydney by filmmakers Michael Cristian Greene and Mia Danica Jamora with a cast of young Australian actors. It’s set in a Parisian town, and after the 20 minute film screening there will be interview opportunities with the cast and crew to discuss the film and transforming urban Sydney into a French village in the film.

THE INTERNATIONAL FLEET REVIEW (Sydney)

In just over two months, on October 3rd-9th, the Royald Australian Navy will commemorate the arrival of its first fleet 100 years ago in Sydney Harbour with an International Fleet Review. 54 International Warships and 17 Tall Ships will take part, and on Friday 4th October the Australian Surf Rowers League is presenting a Salute to Navy luncheon to raise fund for life saving equipment.
