THE MILK BAR IS BACK AT WORLD SQUARE (SYDNEY)
As part of the current Art & About program, central Sydney location World Square has revived the popular Daisy's Milk Bar from now until September 28th (from 10am daily). It's a place to go when you feel like a milkshake, a sundae, or a dash of nostalgia. Daisy's Milk Bar will be at The Square serving up delicious baked bean & cheese or ham jaffles, cheese & tomato jaffles, hotdogs, spiders, classic milkshakes as well as indulgent ones (like nutella, pancake, and milo flavours), and mini sundaes, as well as the all-time favourite 'mixed lolly bag'. In addition, The Banner Gallery will be a big presence at the Milk Bar, with photographic works on display.
In 2014 Art & About's theme is 'endangered', exploring the threatened, the exposed, and the risky through an artist's perspective. Daisy’s Milk Bar got its name when owners Jess and Jake met, after he incorrectly guessed her name was Daisy.. Located in Petersham, Daisy’s was launched six months ago as a fun, friendly meeting place where everyone feels welcome. The Banner Gallery is curated by designer, photographer and Australian archivist Eamon Donnelly. The photographic works are the result of Eamon’s online digital archive of the Australian image, The Island Continent, a website dedicated to the colour, nostalgia, fashions, design, people, vibe and humour of Australia. The Milk Bar Project will be published as a coffee table book in late 2014.

APERITIVO’S PIZZAS AND CAMPARI MASTERCLASSES (SYDNEY)
Leichhardt’s Aperitivo is one of Sydney’s best-kept secrets serving up some of the city’s best pizza, authentic Napoletana-style. It’s also one of only four Sydney pizza restaurants certified by the Italian Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana (AVPN), meaning they make authentic Napoletana pizza and follow rigorous standards set by the original home of pizza, Naples, Italy. Resident Pizzaiolo Francesco Spataro is one of the godfathers of the Napoletana pizza style in Australia, having made it here since 2004 following training in Naples. At Aperitivo, Spataro ensures pizzas are hand-kneaded, traditionally topped and wood-fired at 400 + degrees Celsius for 60 to 90 seconds to create a base that's lightly crisp, yet soft and pliable. There are 22 pizzas on the menu, from classics like Margherita and Margherita Bufala to the popular Diavoletto (Hot salami, smoked provola, mozzarella, olives, tomato and basil) and Salsiccia (Homemade sausages, mozzarella, taleggio, mixed porcini mushroom, truffle oil and radicchio). While pizza is the hero at Aperitivo, the delicious hand made pastas, risottos, seafood and meat dishes, made by Milanese chefs in true Milanese style, will make ordering a very tough decision.
Also, this October, Aperitivo is partnering with Campari to host a series of masterclasses, teaching how best to enjoy this Italian favourite. Jordan Berger, Campari’s Brand Ambassador, will guide you through a tasting of Campari, Aperol and Vermouth before you get to test out your newly found knowledge and mix the perfect cocktail. Sharing is the key to the Italian aperitivo so head chef Christian Colognesi will create a modern 'Aperitivo' shared buffet menu for this special event.
Aperitivo’s outdoor courtyard and front open balcony are the perfect spots to perch with a cocktail and while away a summer’s afternoon. If you have a larger group, the upstairs bar and functions space caters for 90 standing or 60 seated.
Aperitivo, which celebrates its 5th birthday this month, is the only restaurant in Australia to be certified by both Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana and Ospitalita Italiana, which ensures the use of certified Italian products and the importance of the true authentic Italian food culture.
