ANANAS BAR & BRASSERIE OFFERS FRENCH STYLE BRUNCH ON SUNDAYS (SYDNEY)

For the first time since opening it's doors, renowned Sydney restaurant Ananas Bar & Brasserie will be opening exclusively on Sundays for a new French inspired brunch menu. Michelin-starred Executive Corporate Chef Damien Brassel will be serving up an a la carte menu between 11am and 5pm, including offerings such as Ouef Basquaise (poached eggs & creamy polenta, prosciutto, piperade, espelette pepper), Le Pain Perdu (French toast, custard soaked brioche, vanilla poached pineapple, chantilly), Crêpes Soufflées (fluffy ricotta crepe, apricot, lemon, orange, fromage blanc) and Le Paillard (grilled chicken breast paillard with picholine olives, tomato confit, lemon, shaved vegetable salad).

MATT MORAN OPENS CHISWICK AT THE GALLERY (SYDNEY)

Chef and restaurateur, Matt Moran, is set to bring his much-admired CHISWICK restaurant into the heart of Sydney, a short five-minute stroll from Macquarie Street, at the Art Gallery of NSW with CHISWICK at the Gallery launching October 25. As with the popular Woollahra outpost, CHISWICK at the Gallery, a 125-seat restaurant at the eastern end of the Entrance Court with striking views across the Royal Botanic Gardens to Sydney Harbour, will feature the best produce and drinks mostly from regional NSW including lamb from Matt’s own farm. CHISWICK at the Gallery’s menu takes cues from its Woollahra sibling, but also has its own unique personality crafted by head chef, Laura Baratto. STREETSMART OFFERS DINESMART CAMPAIGN

From 10th November to 21st December, StreetSmart Australia will be encouraging guests who dine at their many restaurant partners to add $2 onto their bill to assist people living on the streets as well as a number of grassroots movements during this Christmas period. Last year, DineSmart raised $445,921 and funded 19 grassroots projects. At many of the participating restaurants, over 100% of patrons contribute towards DineSmart and often donate extra. It comes down to people wanting to assist, with DineSmart being an easy way to support smaller organisations nearby to participating restaurants that struggle with funding. Participating restaurants include China Lane, The Apollo, Cho Cho San, Bishop Sessa, Bloodwood, Cafe Sydney, Fix St James and Longrain.

THE GROUNDS BY THE SEA AND ALMOND BREEZE (SYDNEY)

The Grounds of Alexandria is taking a trip to the seaside for a limited time only. Joining forces with the annual Sculptures by the Sea spectacle, the team behind the hugely popular venue are set to open The Grounds by the Sea Pop-Up Eatery from October 23 to November 9. Almond Breeze is teaming up with The Grounds of Alexandria for this pop up. Almond Breeze Barista Blend coffees and the delicious ‘Almond SeaBreeze Ice Chocolate’ will be available daily, complementing the seed-to-plate theme of the menu. Set in a cosy coastal cottage, The Grounds by the Sea will offer a pop up eatery like no other. SOUTH MELBOURNE MARKETS MOVE TO BAN SALE OF CAGED EGGS

In support of humane food production, the South Melbourne Market and their traders will ban the sale of all cages eggs with the 'We Care about the Chicken and the Egg' campaign. From December 1st, the South Melbourne Market traders will not be selling eggs that have been sources from hens housed in cages (this includes any eggs used in restaurants and cafés).

Additionally, traders will be required to clearly label ‘bird densities’ as well as identify products as barn-laid, free-range or organic. Customers will therefore be informed to make their purchase decision based on price; category including barn-laid, free-range and organic; and hen stocking densities. While the concept of ‘bird density’ may yet be unknown to some shoppers, it has been identified by the Market as one of the ways to convey to customers the potential quality of free-range systems.

Serving a a Museum of Craft, The Balvenie craft bar will be popping up in Sydney briefly to celebrate fine Australia craftmanship and the world's most handcrafted single malt Scotch whisky - the namesake for the bar. Guests will be able to admire the handy work of twelve different craftspeople - from guitar makers to book binders - displaying various skills in a shared public space while the luxuriously smooth Balvenie range is available at the bar. IMB Sunset Cinema is launching its 2014/2015 season at a brand new location. Western Sydney’s first outdoor cinema event is debuting on November 7 at Lizard Log Amphitheatre, Western Sydney Parklands.
