While prepping his acclaimed '100 percenter' stand-up for the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, funny-man Cam Knight takes some time out to answer a few questions for us. From what he says, it seems like the performance will be every bit as inspiring as it is hilarious.

What does it mean to be a '100 percenter' type of guy?

An English man called me this after I'd told him a few stories from my life. He probably meant I was go-go-go all the time. I think it means to live your life large, filling your life with incredible experiences. Although when you see they call the rich elite the 1% that really can put a dampener on where you think you are placed.

Are there any particular messages you hope audiences take away from this show?

Take the time out to slow down and enjoy what you have instead of running around trying to find meaning. Sometimes the simplest moments are the best.

Do you feel studying acting has helped you in your comedy career? How?

I think it's helped my comfort on stage and ability to act out and give life to my stories. It's also given me a strong appreciation of the words 'in between jobs"!

How would you describe your sense of humour?

I've been described as hilarious, fun, fast , frenetic, cheeky and full of pep. I don't mind that although I think this new show has a lot more thought put in to it so perhaps brutally honest and insightful could be added to the mix.

What are some things which will always make you laugh, without fail?

Ray Badran's stories. Google him, he's gonna be huge.

What would your process of turning a life experience into a humorous anecdote be like?

This show is the direct result of a life experience...intrigued? Come see the show!

What are some of the advantages working the comedy live circuit has over gigs on TV?

You really have to watch your p's and q's and f's on TV which is fine but you sometimes don't quite know how you're faring on TV until after it goes to air whereas the live circuit is where you get the immediate gratification and thrill from the audience.

Which Australian city seems to have the best sense of humour overall?

Is this going to print in Melbourne? It is? Oh Melbourne, definitely.

With so much happening at Melbourne International Comedy Festival, are there any other acts that you are particularly looking forward to?

It's hard to catch much when you're on at 9:30pm and have to flyer every night for your show. Luke Heggie's doing some great stuff. Steen Raskopoulos in his new one man sketch show should be fantastic. I'd also love to see Sam Simmons, Adrienne Truscott, Alexis Dubus, The Writers & Paul Foot.

Do you have any other plans for 2014 beyond touring this performance?

My wife and I are expecting the birth of our first child at the end of May so that's my main focus...PLEASE COME TO MY SHOW, MY BABY NEEDS FOOD!!

Cam Knight's show at Melbourne International Comedy Festival plays 22 times from 27 March to 20 April. Further information and ticket details can be found HERE
