Easter Bunny Butt in a Scrapbook Paper Basket

This Easter bunny butt in a basket project began with a terrific slatted paper basket tutorial I found at Split Coast Stampers by Betty Traciak of Kitty Stamp Blog. Oh no, just what I need — another blog I absolutely have to follow! The basket may look complicated but Betty’s directions are so clear that it’s very easy to make.

The basket is 4 inches square, 3 1/2 inches high plus another 4  inches for the handle. It’s made from two sheets of 12 x 12 scrapbook paper.

When I finished the basket I had some scraps of pink paper left over. The color made me think of bunny feet I saw on a Betty Crocker bunny butt cake recipe I saved to my Pinterest Easter & spring crafts board a year or two ago. This cute little bunny butt is a lot easier to make than the cake!

Easter Bunny Butt Supplies

2 1/2-inch white Styrofoam ball

1 1/2-inch white Styrofoam ball

1-inch white Styrofoam ball

Scraps of pink paper

Tacky glue

Scissors

1/4-inch round paper punch

Easter Bunny Butt Directions

Use scissors to cut the 1 1/2-inch Styrofoam ball in half. Trim the round shape of each half to an egg shape for the bottom of the bunny’s feet. Cut two egg shaped pieces of pink paper to fit on the narrow end of the feet. Punch six dots of pink paper.

Use tacky glue to attach pink paper shapes to the bottom of the paws as illustrated.

Fill small basket with Easter grass. [By the way, do you know how to make your own Easter grass like that shown here with a hand crank pasta machine?]

Tuck the 2 1/2-inch white Styrofoam ball down into the Easter grass. Use tacky glue to stick the smallest Styrofoam ball onto the bunny’s butt. Position the bunny’s feet so that they hang over the edge of the basket. Glue in place.
