Written August 11th, 2015 – Be forewarned this is…very short.

Jimmy…Timmy…Power…Hour. Those four words hold the secret to the best possible way for the CW’s Arrow and The Flash to crossover with CBS’ Supergirl. The plot synopsis for the first crossover between The Fairly Odd Parents and Jimmy Neutron is as follows:

A chaotic duel with characters from The Fairly OddParents and Jimmy Neutron erupts when Timmy wishes to go to the greatest lab in the universe for his science fair,. The greatest lab in the universe just happens to be, in another universe, in Retroville, Jimmy Neutron’s lab, but Jimmy accidentally teleports himself into Timmy’s universe. Now the two are stranded in each other’s worlds. Now Timmy must shut down Goddard, who Timmy uploaded a destructive video game into, before he destroys Retroville. Meanwhile, Jimmy must stop Mr. Crocker from taking over Fairy World.

That’s it, the two characters team up, do there thing, and then go back to their respective universes and never (as I recall) mention the other universe until their next crossover, Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour 2: When Nerds Collide! The model used for crossovers between The Fairly Odd Parents and Jimmy Neutron is the same one that should be used in the crossover between Arrow & The Flash and Supergirl.

Something that numerous fans seem to overlook is that the phrases “possible crossover’ and “shared universe” have little-to-nothing to do with each other. Timmy Turner doesn’t exist in Jimmy Neutron’s universe, nor does Jimmy Neutron exist in Timmy Turner’s universe but that didn’t rule out a crossover. DC Comics is famous for it’s multiverse – which is already set to be explored via Earth-2 on The Flash in it’s upcoming season – so why can’t the same be true for Supergirl?…Gotham?…Blackbirds/Titans?

The potential opened up by the multiverse is vast and it allows for quick one to two episode crossovers that don’t effect the plot of either show and are glossed over in future episodes. CBS and it’s president have said on numerous occasions that they want Supergirl to grow on it’s own, and despite the fact that it will be cross-promoting with Arrowverse shows – the show will exist in it’s own universe (a fact made abundantly clear by the leaked pilot). A Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour style crossover would allow Supergirl to grow on it’s own, and to “co-exist” and “crossover” although not frequently with Arrow and The Flash. On the other hand a merging of the Arrowverse and Superverse means an extremely convoluted set of seasons that would need to reaffirm what is canon (Does Superman exist?) and what isn’t canon (Where was Supergirl when Starling City needed saving?). Just think back to when DC Launched the New 52, three universes were merged, and DC spent the next year and a half clarifying which events were canon and which weren’t, personally I don’t want to see that on Arrow or The Flash, so I say YES! Let them crossover, but make it Jimmy/Timmy Power Hour style if they do.
