Good Morning from Nia, Miss A and I, as we come to the end of what has been an amazing 10 days in Italy. We have been staying in Moda Canvas Holiday accommodation on the Portofelice Camping Village site, which is a short distance from Venice.
I’m usually suffering from itchy feet within a few days being in the same spot and wanting to explore the area but the girls have been so content here (as have I) that we decided to just make the most of the Eraclea area that the camping village is based in.
I’m here with my very good pal, and fellow blogger Kate and her son and we quickly have gotten ourselves into a lovely routine of doing nothing but eating, sleeping, snoozing and of course sampling all of the local wines and the Aperol. The girls have joined us and played cards, swam and taken part in Aqua gym and dance every day. Miss A has been a using her swim fin every day and Nia has been topping up her Florida tan. Both girls have each read a book or two and chilled out together without too much (ahem) sibling rivalry.
It’s for me, the first holiday I’ve not spent with my husband as well as the girls and I’ve never felt awkward, out of place or unsafe which is something I think important to mention. I’m sure we will return feeling incredibly chilled out and also burdened with what looks like a mountain of clothes washing I’ll need to do.
What’s made this holidays or me? I think this time chilling out feeling relaxed has allowed my friendship with Kate to develop and even though we knew one another well before, we have laughed, even shed a few tears and shared stories about our life over more than a little drink each evening, or by the pool and over dinner. It’s been a lovely way to just be. Not many holidays allow that do they?
So I’m going to sign off now as the sun is up and the girls will be stiring soon, and I am going to make my first coffee sat on the veranda at the front of our sweet little house.
