Save the date for
Registration and Meet & Greet Day
Wednesday, August 3, 2016
8 a.m.-1 p.m.
All NEW and RETURNING families must attend Registration and Meet & Greet.

What can you do NOW?

Here are the steps you can take now:

1. Go to Vanderlyn’s MEMBERSHIP TOOLKIT to create or update your online account**, and complete the following:

• Parent and student family information: All families need to enter their contact information (once entered, it will be saved for the directory)
• Your directory and publishing preferences

**Please note: If you already have an account on Membership Toolkit, your account became “inactive” at the end of the school year. When you log in, it will ask you to verify your account and information for this year. Your previous login and password will work, and your child’s grade level will automatically be updated to reflect his or her promotion to the next grade.

2. Fill out the OPEN FORMS to complete your PTO registration and pay for your student’s items now with a credit card—saving you time on registration day!

• Student Fees:  This form includes classroom dues, field trip fees, agendas (for grades 2-5), field day t-shirts, and Kindergarten field trip t-shirts.
• 2016–17 PTO Membership form: Joining the PTO provides you an active voice to support your child’s school, the best way to stay connected with what’s going on at Vanderlyn, exclusive access to our online directory, and many more benefits.
• Annual Fund form: Please help us continue the excellence at Vanderlyn by donating money to the 2016-2017 annual fundraising campaign.  100% of your donation will be used to enhance the educational experience of every student and faculty member at our school.

Programs Supported by the Annual Fund:

• Faculty Development and Appreciation:  Seminars, conferences, training (including having every Kindergarten & 1st grade teacher Orton Gillingham trained), and stipends
• Educational Programs:  Educational materials, IXL (Math), author visits, organic gardens, academic competitions, field trips, media center and book room resources
• STEM initiatives:  STEM lab supplies, STEM resources, STEM nights, and STEM career day
• Technology Enhancements:  iPads, digital scanners, STEM lab resources, technology lab, and mobile computer lab
• Schoolwide Events:  International Night, VanderDash, STEM community nights, and Field Day
• Facility Care and Campus Safety:  Outdoor classrooms, clinic supplies, playground equipment, landscaping, Interactive Math Path, and murals
• And much, much more!!!

Without your Annual Fund donations, these programs would not be possible. All donations, large and small, DO make a difference. Help us reach our goal of 100% participation. Be a Viking Champion, donate today!

• Spirit Wear 2016–2017 form: Order Vanderlyn Spirit Wear online and pick it up at Registration! We will be taking online Spirit Wear orders today through July 16. All orders placed by this deadline will be ready for pickup on Registration and Meet & Greet day. If you don’t order by July 16, don’t worry! We’ll also be selling Spirit Wear in the cafeteria on Registration and Meet & Greet Day. Limited quantities and sizes will be available that day. Secure the designs and sizes you want by ordering online! Contact Kristi Poltrack with any Spirit Wear questions.

3. Sign up for Volunteer Opportunities: Getting involved at Vanderlyn helps us continue to be a School of Excellence and keeps you “in the know” about what’s going on at your school. Join our amazing group of volunteers!

4. Vanderlyn Yearbooks are now for sale! New this year, all yearbook orders will be handled through our new yearbook vendor, Jostens. They will no longer be available for order through the PTO Website. The price for a yearbook is $25 until August 26. After that date, the price will increase by $10. Save money and order now!

Our new yearbook vendor also offers personalization for $4 and icons added for FREE (along with other options). Checkout our yearbook Website to learn all of the exciting details!

Please contact Lisa Guggenheim, our PTO yearbook co-chair, with any yearbook questions.

Once you have completed these forms, you will get a FASTPASS to print and bring to Registration/Meet & Greet on August 3. Do not forget to bring your FASTPASS!

Please note: PTO registration does not mean you are a member of PTO. Membership is optional (but recommended), but completing the online registration forms is required, whether you do it prior to August 3 or not. If you do not complete online registration early, you will need to complete it on a computer in the Media Center when you arrive, before you gain access to meet your child’s teacher. THIS WILL INCREASE YOUR WAIT TIME.

Have questions? Contact Candi Miller or Michelle Moore. See you on Wednesday, August 3, between 8 a.m.–1 p.m.!

(The period of 8 a.m.–9:30 a.m. is the most heavily attended time. If you plan to come during this time, please be patient and plan accordingly.)
