Imagine That! is looking for motivated and enthusiastic After School Teachers for our exciting STEAM enrichment programs. We have been offering outstanding STEAM after school classes, summer camps and birthday parties to children in the Atlanta area aged 5 to 14 for over 20 years!
Classes will begin in August and September and continue throughout the school year.
Description of After School Teacher Position:
This is a great opportunity to gain valuable solo teaching experience in the classroom! Our elementary after school classes focus on hands-on science, LEGO Education Technology, Robotics, Minecraft, coding, and programming. We make learning fun!
As an After School Instructor, you will:
-Teach from the provided fun and educational curriculum using the provided supplies
-Lead a super fun but also educational session of after school classes for your group of 12-14 students
-Interact professionally with parents of students and school staff
-Be responsible for child safety during dismissal
Other information:
-Training is provided for all subjects as well as classroom management techniques and safety protocols
-Subjects offered vary by school and program
-Teachers MUST be available to work after school a minimum of three days a week
-Most classes are one hour or one hour and fifteen minutes long
-Classes begin at the end of the school day; with start times between 2:15 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Teachers are required to arrive 15 minutes prior to class start time
-Due to class times, there will usually be only one class per day, per teacher.
-Classes are for 5-7 and 8-12 year olds; maximum number of students of 12 and 14 per classroom (respectively).
-Teacher is responsible for keeping up with and transporting their provided supplies to and from their classes.
We are looking for someone outgoing, good at time management, who enjoys working with kids!
Qualifications:
-This job requires reliable, personal transportation to travel to teaching locations
-Must be passionate and enthusiastic about teaching children
-Experience working with ages 5-14 in a school or community-based setting preferred
-Some science or technology background preferred
-Able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds short distances.
-Instructors must pass the Fulton or Dekalb County School District fingerprint background check.
-Must be 19 years of age or older
-Professional in speech, appearance, and manner
Locations of classes: We offer our programs at public and private Elementary Schools in Alpharetta, Cumming, Johns Creek, Roswell, Marietta, East Cobb, Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, Brookhaven, Atlanta, Smyrna, Buckhead, Decatur, Stone Mountain, and Lithonia. (specific locations can be seen on our website). We will schedule you within the locations closest to you!
Compensation:
Contracted rate for teaching after school classes: 1st class hour: $30; Additional Teaching Time: $20/hr
