Stoke City are expected to sign highly rated youth duo, Dom Telford and Mark Waddington from Blackpool according to the Blackpool Gazette.

Both players came through the youth academy at Blackpool and made their senior debuts earlier this season with some impressive performances, attracting attention from other clubs, with Brighton seeing a bid rejected for Waddington back in January and Stoke seeing a bid turned down for striker Telford, who was also being linked with Liverpool and Everton.

With their contracts expiring in only a few weeks, Stoke City have swooped in for the two players and are understood to be in advanced talks with the duo.

Because of the players ages being under the age of 23, it means that Stoke would have to pay compensation to the seaside club, thought to be around £100,000 per player.

After both players broke through to the first team, they were offered professional deals by Blackpool, but neither accepted the offers on the table. It is understood however that the pair have again been offered fresh terms, with improvements made to the contracts offered, but it is now widely expected that the players will sign for Stoke.
