The University of Northwestern Ohio’s Collegiate Chapter of the American Marketing Association earned quite the honor at the AMA’s 38th Annual International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana held March 17 to March 19, 2016.
The UNOH AMA Chapter earned one of the five “Top Small Chapter of the Year” awards worldwide! This designation is extremely impressive as it is only the club’s third year of formal partnership with the American Marketing Association. This honor portrays that UNOH’s AMA Chapter illustrated exemplary performance in the following categories for the 2015-2016 fiscal year: Outstanding Professional Development, Outstanding Membership, Outstanding Chapter Planning, Outstanding Internal/External Communications, Outstanding Fundraising, and Outstanding Community Service/Social Impact. In order to qualify for annual awards, the UNOH AMA Chapter submitted a Chapter Plan along with an Annual Report.
UNOH AMA President, Chase Vance, traveled to New Orleans with six fellow club members, Manda Moberly, Ruben Medina, Bonnie Kyle, Sandy Woodmansee, Daniel Goncalves, and Emily Dillon. Advisors, Dr. Susan Mann and Dr. Rick Goeb accompanied the group. Six of the seven attending students received certifications in the American Marketing Association’s Collegiate Role Playing and Relationship Selling Program.
Vance said of his experience, “Our overall objective was to win this specific award and we did! We believed we were a chapter to be reckoned with and we proved to our University, AMA and other collegiate AMA chapters globally that we can compete with other superior groups, no matter the size.”
Advisor Dr. Mann expressed, “I am exceptionally proud of my AMA students and how much they have achieved and grown this past year. This convention provided them with experience beyond the classroom they will use for the rest of their lives. The UNOH AMA Chapter exceeded my expectations for the 2015-2016 year.”
Vance was individually recognized for being a student judge of two competitions “AMA Student Marketer of the Year” and “Best Community and Social Impact Video”. Dr. Mann was acknowledged for judging competing websites and annual reports throughout the year and analyzing marketing case strategies and chapter exhibits at the conference.
