Katie Couric is set to marry John Molner in early summer in the Hamptons, and Confidenti@l has exclusive details of the intimate ceremony.
We already knew the party would be small. At Howard Stern’s birthday party on Jan. 31, Couric surprised the shock jock by telling him that, like most people, he wouldn’t be invited, even though he takes credit for having first suggested the pair tie the knot.
“It’s going to be family only,” Yahoo’s global ambassador told the King of All Media at the bash. Stern has since offered to officiate at the wedding whenever and wherever it happens.
We’re told Couric and Molner’s wedding will be a small, understated ceremony centering around a big dinner. Couric won’t wear a formal wedding dress and will probably go with something off the rack.
“At 57, a white wedding dress probably isn’t appropriate,” Couric joked with Confidenti@l, adding that she’s still in the market for something fun. “I’m spending so much time on my show and Yahoo!, but thankfully John has been very involved in the planning.”
The wedding will be nodenominational, and Couric’s two daughters, Ellie, 22, and Caroline, 17, will be involved in the ceremony.
Part of the reason Couric’s big day will be a small affair is that this is both her and Molner’s second go-round. The perky newswoman and talk-show host was first married to NBC legal analyst Jay Monahan, who died of cancer in 1998 at the age of 42.
The groom-to-be is a 51-year-old Chicago native who works as an executive at investment firm Brown Brothers Harriman and Co.’s office in the Windy City. He proposed to Couric on Labor Day last year. Soon after, she tweeted, “Yes, it’s true! So touched by all the kind Tweets & warm wishes-thank you!” The pair has since loomed large on the New York social scene, being photographed at the Met gala, US Open and several Knicks games. Molner also attended Stern’s birthday party and joked “Yes!” when Stern offered to marry them on the spot.
It’s no wonder Couric doesn’t mind using her Hamptons spread for the wedding. The swanky pad was deemed feature-worthy for a Hamptons Cottages & Gardens spread last June.

PIPPA’S BOOK IS A PARTY POOPER
Pippa Middleton may have been presented as the ultimate party planner by her publishers in 2012 — but the sales figures for her much-lauded book are nothing to celebrate, Confidenti@l has learned.
Viking Press execs are sure to be canceling the party hats, as “Celebrate: A Year of Festivities for Families and Friends” may have failed to break even. Insiders say the 400-page good-time manual has turned to mush. Pippa’s book sold just 18,000 copies in U.S. stores, according to official figures from Nielsen. The $50 book, released in October 2012, was sold at some outlets at reduced prices days after its release.
Now the book from the Duchess of Cambridge’s sister can be bought new for the bargain-basement price of $12.
It’s understood Pippa banked a whopping $640,000 advance for “Celebrate,” her first book.
