The Chenab Bridge is an under construction rail bridge located between Bakkal and Kauri in districts of Jammu and kashmir.

And guess whats the speciality of this construiction..! this bridge will be taller than the Eiffel Tower by 35 meters and this will be the tallest rail bridge in the world.
The Chenab Bridge was originally scheduled to be completed in December 2009. But due to many construction challenges, This project is postponed March 2016 having a lifespan of 120 years. It will contribute to the economic development of the state and help in providing better transportation accessibility within the state and the country.

Actually the need for constructing this huge project is that travelling in and around the mountainous terrain of Jammu and Kashmir has been a great difficulty for locals. An urgent need to provide better transportation facilities was recognized by the Government of India. Construction of a national railway project that will connect J&K with the rest of India was therefore proposed.
Even once, This project was suspended in 2008 due to construction challenges.One of the biggest challenges involved was construction of the bridge without obstructing the flow of the river.
Amberg Engineering was appointed to carry out review work of the alignments where Konkan Railway Corporation executes the project and the Design and construction of the bridge was awarded to a joint venture of Afcons Infrastructure, Ultra Construction & Engineering Company of South Korea and VSL India in 2004. Afcons being the primary designer of this project released a video showing how the construction of the world’s largest bridge is going on which are unimaginable.

The bridge is expected to be 359 metres (1,177 feet) high when completed — surpassing the world’s current tallest railway bridge over the Beipanjiang River in China’s Guizhou province, which stands at 275 metres high.
