Match Overview
Italy will be looking forward to getting the squad together for the first pre-tournament friendly with the big story from the media being about Conte’s exclusion of Andrea Pirlo and Sebastian Giovinco from the squad for the major tournament. Unfortunately for the Scots they won’t be heading to France this summer but it is still a good opportunity to challenge themselves against one of the stronger teams in the tournament.
Italy look to be in one of the trickier groups out of the bunch with no games looking easy. Alongside them in Euro 2016 Group E are Belgium, Sweden and Republic of Ireland who will all fancy their chances of progressing so these friendlies could be an important warm up period for the Italians. Looking at recent form they definitely need to improve as they are without a win in four but have played some tricky games.
Scotland however have reacted well to the disappointment of not qualifying for the Euro’s and have won three on the bounce including two respectable friendly victories over Czech Republic and Denmark. Although Italy will go into the game as favourites, I expect Scotland to prove themselves as tough opposition.

It’s harsh on Italy when looking at the poor form of late because they have faced the likes of Belgium and Germany and when looking at the squad, they are definitely not the force they were when they won the World Cup. I do think with home advantage Italy will win this one as it is has more importance to them than it does Scotland, but it won’t come easy.
My first football prediction for Italy vs Scotland is for Italy to win and both teams to score. Both teams have scored in Italy’s last six games showing they can score but can’t defend! The best odds for this are currently a tempting 17/5 with Betfair.

Although Italy don’t have a top class striker anymore, they still have plenty of options in the attacking third including Immobile, Insigne and Southampton’s Pelle. I think Conte will be keen to give them all a run out over the couple of friendlies so it is hard to say who will start up top in this game but an anytime goalscorer is still worth a bet.
My second football prediction for Italy vs Scotland is going to be Insigne to score at anytime. I have gone for Insigne as I think he will start due to the key role he played in Napoli’s season. He scored 12 goals this season and even scored in the 1-1 draw with Spain back in March. The best odds are again with Betfair and are currently 21/10.
A lot of the time you will be lucky to get evens for over 2.5 goals in a game and that’s why I have chosen this as my last betting tip. Based on recent form Italy have always got a good amount of goals in their games and Scotland have seen some high scoring draws against Poland and Germany last year so it’s not to be ruled out.
