Football Accumulator Tips

Sheffield Wednesday vs Birmingham – Sheffield Wednesday win

The Owls have been in terrific form at Hillsborough lately and have won four of the last five. They’ve also kept four consecutive clean sheets. They’ve bolstered their ranks during the transfer window and now have an abundance of riches to call upon. Jordan Rhodes and Sam Winnall will contest for a place alongside Fernando Forestieri whilst there is width and creativity in midfield. They won at Wigan last Friday and are aiming to make it back to back televised victories. Birmingham may have won last weekend, but they were facing 10 men for most of the second half and their away form is atrocious with just a single victory on the road since the middle of September.

Newport vs Doncaster – Doncaster win

Newport have improved and are unbeaten in four but they look slightly short on quality compared to tonight’s opponents. Rodney Parade isn’t the easiest pitch to play on, but Donny should be able to leave with all three points. Darren Ferguson will not be happy his side dropped points at home to Morecambe last week, but the Shrimps followed up with victory at Leyton Orient proving they have plenty of spirit about them. Donny have recently picked up victories at Notts County, Yeovil and Barnet and should be able to find their goalscoring touch. John Marquis has 17 goals this season and is in a purple patch and they should be able to extend their lead at the top of the table.

Espanyol v Real Sociedad – Draw

These two sides are quite evenly matches and are both chasing the final European spot. Real Sociedad currently sit in 5th and have a three point advantage of nearest competitors Villareal. Espanyol sit six points off their visitors but could halve the advantage with a victory here. They’ve drawn 5 of their 11 home matches this season but have only lost twice here all campaign. Real Sociedad haven’t lost many on the road but they’ve played the likes of Granada, Leganes and Gijon all of whom are down the wrong end of the table and this will be much tougher for them. They need to bounce back from a 3-0 thumping at the Bernabeu and a point each is about fair.

Bordeaux v PSG – Draw

This might be a slightly controversial choice but I believe Bordeaux are playing well enough to get a point from this tie. PSG were somewhat lucky to come away with three points at the Parc Des Princes against Lillie in midweek with a late Lucas goal and this is a quick turnaround for both sides. Bordeaux walloped Caen 4-0 away from home and the hosts had recently beaten Lyon there. They’ve become increasingly hard to beat and are unbeaten in their last three home matches including holding Nice to a goalless draw. Bordeaux may have lost here in the Coupe De La Ligue, but changes had been made and the hosts haven’t been defeated in the league since before Christmas. I think they can snatch something here.
