Saturday’s Football Accumulator Tips
Tottenham to beat Everton
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino was unhappy with his players when losing 5-1 at relegated Newcastle in the final match of last season and the 6-1 defeat of Inter Milan last weekend suggests that his team has regained form ahead of the new campaign. Everton offer the impression of a team in transition under new manager Ronald Koeman and they failed to win any of their last four pre-season friendlies. Tottenham could improve upon their 1-1 draw at Goodison last season by winning this game. See our Everton v Tottenham predictions for an in-depth match preview.
Derby to beat Barnsley
It was a difficult start for Barnsley at Ipswich in the Championship last weekend after earning promotion last term, and conceding four second half goals in a 4-2 defeat will have dented their confidence. Elimination from the EFL Cup in midweek by Northampton was another blow for the Tykes and Saturday opponents Derby have yet to concede a goal in two competitive games this season which began with a creditable goalless draw against Brighton. The Rams are a strong team at this level and may earn another clean sheet in winning at Barnsley.

Newcastle to beat Huddersfield
Championship title favourites Newcastle United suffered a surprise 1-0 defeat at Fulham last weekend but Rafael Benitez will now demand a positive reaction from his players, and the Spaniard was unbeaten at St James' Park in five Premier League matches last term. Huddersfield did produce a decent performance when beating Brentford 2-1 on Saturday but then lost 2-1 at Shrewsbury in a midweek EFL Cup clash and suffered heavy away defeats at Middlesbrough and Bristol City during April. David Wagner has strengthened his squad during the summer but Newcastle should claim their first victory of the campaign via a clean sheet.
Port Vale to Draw with Southend
Port Vale suffered an EFL Cup exit in midweek when beaten 2-1 at Carlisle but they were also fortunate to claim a point in a 0-0 at Bradford on Saturday after being outplayed for most of the match. Opponents Southend have begun the season by losing 3-1 to Gillingham in both league and cup matches with Stephen McLaughlin opening the scoring for the Shrimpers on both occasions. With both teams struggling for early form, a low-scoring draw is forecasted for the next leg of this weekend’s accumulator tip.

Blackpool to beat Morecambe
Blackpool have suffered two consecutive relegations amid off-field turmoil but some optimism may be returning to Bloomfield Road with an opening day League Two home victory against Exeter, followed by beating Bolton after extra-time in an EFL Cup tie. Morecambe also won in midweek when beating Rotherham 5-4 after a 3-3 draw during normal time. However, Jim Bentley's team lost 2-0 at league newcomers Grimsby on the opening day and suffered 13 home defeats last term including conceding four or more goals on six occasions. An away win is predicted to complete the acca on Saturday.
Suggested Accumulator bet for Saturday
Everton v Tottenham: Away Win
Barnsley v Derby: Away Win
Newcastle v Huddersfield: Home Win
Port Vale v Southend: Draw
Morecambe v Blackpool: Away Win
