Once a month or so, my gal, Leah, and I do our best to line up the dads or grandmas so we can slip out on a mom date. Years ago, all our spare time was spent on “dates”. We worked at a coffee shop together and would leave after our shift for sandwiches or errands. We’d work out together, sip coffee (our bread and butter then and now!), and swap drama about the boys in our life. We were young, 18 and 21, and had few cares in the world.
Since, wedding bells and babies have filled our lives, which we love dearly, but, of course, we still love our time together. There is something really special about traveling through life with someone in the midst of your twenties. It’s like we’ll always understand each other since we witnessed the single life, dating life, married life, and mama life together.
Last Thursday, we embarked on our official November mom date. Soup for dinner to ward off the chill and a quiet chat in the car (no screaming/singing/chattering children!) before the evening showing of Mockingjay … because obviously a mom date isn’t complete without a viewing of a favorite teen trilogy turned movie :) 
We’re both natural brunettes, so obviously we completely identify with Katniss. But, seeing that there are no eggnog lattes in District 13, it looks like we won’t be running off with our bow and arrow anytime soon. What we will be doing is holding our breath until Part 2 debuts. Either that or until Insurgent or Pitch Perfect 2 hits the theater. What can I say, I really love previews!
You all know I live in yoga pants most days, so of course mom dates call for a step up (or two or three). During nap time I closed my eyes and scanned my closet to piece together my outfit for the evening – this is what I came up with. I think it screams fall mama fashion. And well, that’s my jam.

Minnetonka Moccasins have long been a favorite of mine. I’ve had my flat moccasins for years and I’m thrilled to have a pair of boots join my shoe family. During our night out I received 3 separate compliments about them – they’re striking in a neutral, comfortable way. I kinda really heart them.
