Last time we looked at some of the exciting new features of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015. Below we’ll continue our tour of some of the improvements you’ll find in GP 2015.
9. Single Sign On
Users of Web Client have the option to store their credentials the first time they log on. From then on when the web client is launched the GP login is bypassed.
8. Self Service User
The Self Service User is a new license type that is available with Microsoft Dynamics GP 2015. Especially useful for users that do not fall under the category of a FULL or LIMITED USER, it offers users the ability to perform basic maintenance on a very limited scope of data. These users are Named users, instead of Concurrent users. The Self Service User CAL needs to be assigned to at least one of the following five roles.
I. ESS Employee
This role grants access to the Default areas of functionality, as well as the following areas:
Employee Timecard Entry
Employee Timecard History
II. ESS Employee – BSS
This role grants access to the Default areas of functionality, as well as the following areas:
Employee Timecard Entry
Employee Timecard History
III. ESS PTE Employee
This role grants access to the Default areas of functionality, as well as the following areas:
Employee Timecard Entry
Employee Timecard History
IV. ESS Purchase Requester
This role grants access to the Default areas of functionality, as well as the following functions:
Enter Purchase Requisitions
View Purchase Requisitions
View Requisition History
V. ESS Employee Manager
This role grants access to the Default areas of functionality, as well as the following functions:
Manage Employee Profile
View and Approve Timecards
Note: The ESS User License is not restricted by default. You must assign one of these roles to the user in order to finalize the user setup.
7. Workflow
GP2015 significantly expands the number of workflows. New workflows include:
Financial:
General Ledger Batch Approval
Sales:
Receivables Batch Approval
Purchasing:
Payables Batch Approval
Vendor Approval
Payroll:
Employee Profile Approval
Employee Skills Approval
Direct Deposit Approval
W4 Approval
Project:
Expense report Approval
Workflow Maintenance allows users to define the steps to be followed for any given workflow.
For ‘out-of-the-box’ workflows the hooks into the relevant GP windows appear when the workflow has been configured and activated. Email notifications are routed as defined in the workflow.
6. Purchase Requisitions
GP 2015’s Purchase Requisitions function lets a user enter a requisition and ties it in with the Purchase Order Processing feature.
A part of the Employee Self Service functionality, navigation is streamlined to review requisition status or to enter a requisition.
By using the Saved, Ready for Purchase, Pending User Action, Rejected Workflow, and Approval tiles, users are able quickly to see important information directly from their Home Page.
5. Smartlist Designer
This feature can create refreshable Excel reports using SmartList Designer, which can also be published to the Excel report library.
4. Excel Reports
Users can locate information from within GP without requiring access to the application itself or a user license. By publishing a refreshable Excel report, the user can open the report in Excel and the data will always be up to date.
3. Reporting Dashboards
Refreshable Excel reports can be incorporated into reporting dashboards. These dashboards make it possible to access Dynamics GP data from Excel directly, allowing non-Dynamics GP users to view financial data without using a Dynamics GP license. Users can build Dashboards, ScoreCards, and KPI’s to suit their individual requirements
2. Business Analyzer: MR Report Access
The 2015 release makes it possible to access Management Reporter reports from the MR Library without the need to have Management Reporter installed.
1. Business Analyzer Cross Platform
Microsoft Dynamics Business Analyzer is a Business Intelligence app that allows users to view and take action on key business information swiftly and easily.
Tablet users on Windows, iOS or Android can install and use the Microsoft Dynamics Business Analyzer app.
