Shanghai, China - For many overseas buyers at Intertextile Shanghai Home Textiles, the ability to meet with potentially hundreds of Chinese exhibitors, under the same roof and at the same time, is a strong drawcard. This month’s fair is set to feature exhibitors from 29 overseas countries and regions in addition to the strong local contingent, with product categories including upholstery fabrics & leather, bedding & towelling, carpets & rugs, sun-protection systems & curtain accessories, digital printing products and original service designs & artwork. Taking place over four days this year instead of three, a comprehensive fringe program with design & trend inspiration and market information also features.

Helping buyers make sense of all the sourcing options on offer, domestic exhibitors either feature in product categories, regional pavilions or in specially zoned halls including Emerging Players Hall (hall 4.2), Glamorous Brands Hall (5.1), Colourful Haining Hall (5.2), Fashionable Yuhang Hall (6.1) and the Premium Two-City Hall (6.2). The Glamorous Brands Hall features some of China’s leading home textile brands, such as Jinhua Textile which has more than 500 franchise partners and over 3,000 partner stores throughout China, and will display its embroidered curtains & screens and more at the fair. Also in this hall is Dalian Dongli which will showcase five new product collections at the fair, including some with a French style. Hangzhou Huachen Flocking, a producer of blackout fabric products, already exports to more than 30 countries worldwide, and will feature a range of eco-friendly options this year. Hangzhou Manbamai, meanwhile, has utilised some of the industry’s top pattern designers from around the world, including Italy studio GIACOMO, to produce five main collections of high-end flannel which will be on display at the fair.

The Fashionable Yuhang Hall features suppliers from the Yuhang district in Zhejiang province. This hall houses a range of exhibitors including Hangzhou Guoda Silk Home-textile which will showcase 100% pure mulberry silk, as well as new fabrics which blend silk and other materials such as cotton and linen. Hangzhou Xinhong Fabric uses pure Australian wool to produce upholstery fabrics, and also has cotton and linen ranges which it will display in this hall. Hangzhou Yonghe, which specializes in blackout and upholstery fabrics, Hangzhou Huangdaopo which produces mid-range to high-end upholstery and curtain fabrics, and Zhejiang Famous Textile with its cotton / linen jacquard fabrics also feature here. And Hangzhou E.K Textile, a supplier for premium contract projects, will display a wide range of decoration products.

The Premium Two-City Hall features companies from Tongxiang and Shaoxing. Some of the leading exhibitors in this hall include Zhejiang Aumerry with its range of knitted, suede and velvet fabrics; Tongxiang City Hongcheng Century showcasing weft & warp knitted fabrics and woven upholstery fabrics; Zhejiang Feifan with mid-range to high-end upholstery fabrics and jacquard decorative fabrics; Shaoxing County Jinbeinuo featuring curtain & upholstery fabrics, cushions and table linen; Shaoxing Artsky with their range of wallcoverings; and Shaoxing Zhaofeng with their curtains and upholstery fabrics.

International contingent feature in seven country & region pavilions

While not as large as the domestic areas, the overseas country & region pavilions certainly provide a variety of quality sourcing options. The Belgium Pavilion is organised by Fedustria vzw, and will feature a range of upholstery suppliers. Exhibitors in the India Pavilion, which is organised by Handloom Export Promotion Council, focus on handcraft home textile products, while Maroc Export have organised suppliers of upholstery to feature in the Morocco Pavilion. From Pakistan, a number of bedding & towelling producers take their place in the Pakistan Pavilion, organised by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan.

From Europe comes the debut Portugal Pavilion by Associacao Home From Portugal, and its contingent of bedding & towelling suppliers as well as textile designers. The Taiwan Textile Federation and Taiwan Weaving Industry Association pavilion features a wide range of upholstery, blackout fabric and curtain accessory exhibitors, while the largest overseas pavilion from Turkey, organised by the Uludag Textile Exporters’ Association features suppliers of upholstery. Fringe program includes leading domestic and international participants

While the fair’s product coverage is one of the most comprehensive in the industry, its fringe program is also a drawcard for those seeking design & trend inspiration and market information. Trend forecasting, conceptual designs, product demonstrations and seminars are all part of the program, the main feature of which is the InterDesign section which consists of a 2017 lifestyle Trend Area, a Trend Concept Exhibition where the trends are brought to life, and a Forum Space for interaction to take place between industry players. The 2017 lifestyle trends have been developed by a panel of experts from Europe and Asia, while the Trend Concept Exhibition is a new presentation on the trend keywords ‘Far Away’ by China’s top interior designers and leading editor brands, including LaCanTouch, Designers Guild, Zimmer + Rohde, JAB Anstoetz, Jasonite and Prestigious.
