DALLAS
Northpark Center
With anchoring department stores like Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom, and high fashion boutiques like Cartier, Louis Vuitton and Burberry, Northpark Mall is arguably Dallas’s most upscale retail establishment. At the intersection of Loop 12 and US 75, Northpark Center has been a staple of Dallas society since it was first built in the 1960s. Today is has over 235 shops and restaurants and makes annual sales of over one billion dollars.
Galleria Dallas
Galleria Dallas is another one of the DFW Metroplex’s high-end shopping centers, though this one is a mixed-use development, with one of its main anchors being the Westin Galleria Hotel. Other anchors include Nordstrom, Banana Republic, Gap and H&M. The mall features over 200 other stores and restaurants, and there is even an ice skating rink.
West Village
Located in Uptown, one of Dallas’s trendier neighborhoods, the West Village district is a mixed-use community with an eclectic mix of more than 40 restaurants and retail establishments. With wide sidewalks and many outdoor cafes, it is sometimes referred to as Uptown’s Downtown and known for its European flair. In the West Village you’ll find prominent national brands like Banana Republic, Gap, Loft, Tommy Bahama and J.Crew mixed in with local independent boutiques and restaurants. The West Village is also home to a Magnolia Theater, a Dallas-based movie theater chain that specializes in independent and art house cinema.
Mockingbird Station
Mockingbird Station is another mixed-use shopping district with an independent movie theater as one of its anchors, in this case The Angelika. With high-rise lofts, over 30 restaurants and retailer and a very convenient DART station, Mockingbird Station is truly a one stop shop. Youthful and popular national brands like West Elm, Urban Outfitters, American Apparel are interspersed with tacos joints and coffee shops.
Park Lane Place
The Shops at Park Lane are located just across the street from Northpark Center, and the development is home to more affordable outlets like Nordstrom Rack and Saks Off 5th. Like many of Dallas’s other shopping centers, Park Lane is also mixed-use, featuring high-rise apartments, a bowling alley and a Whole Foods.
Bishop Arts District
The Bishop Arts District is a historical shopping precint located in Dallas’s North Oak Cliff neighborhood. Many of the district’s 60 shops, restaurants and entertainment venues are local, selling clothing, home goods, art and unique gifts. The Bishop Arts District also offers coffee shops, ethnic restaurants, artisanal chocolate stores, bars, spas, medical facilities, and salons. There is even a gym and a yoga studio.
Highland Park Village
It’s no surprise that Highland Park, one of Dallas’s nicest neighborhoods, is home to one of the most upscale shopping plazas in the DFW Metroplex. First built in 1931 at the corner of Mockingbird Lane and Preston Road, Highland Park Village was declared a National Historic Landmark in 2000. Today it houses more than 40 high-end boutiques, such as Chanel, Christian Louboutin, Dior, Shinola,Tom Ford, and Vince, among others. It’s also the site of the only Texas locations for a number of design houses, including Alexander McQueen, James Perse, Filson, Draper James, Balenciaga and Diane von Furstenberg. Designed in the style of Spanish plazas, Highland Park Village features a central fountain surrounded by brick lane pathways and extensive landscaping. One of the plaza’s most notable venues is the Village Theater, an iconic luxury cinema.
FORT WORTH
Historic Fort Worth Stockyards
Those looking to soak up some history with their shopping spree should consider visiting the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. Originally established as a livestock packing houses when the railroad first opened in 1876, the Fort Worth Stockyards were listed on the National Register of Historic Places a century later. Today, the Stockyards is mainly home to shops and entertainment venues, many of them western themed. With stores like Fincher’s White Front Western Wear and Cavender’s, as well as bars and restaurants like Love Shack and Riscky’s Steak House, the Fort Worth Stockyards are the perfect place to buy cowboy boots and then take them for a spin.
Montgomery Plaza
Montgomery Plaza is a shopping mall and residential living community located just west of downtown Fort Worth. Built in the old Montgomery Ward building, which dates back to 1928, the development features a mix of national chains and local businesses. Anchored by Target, Pier 1 Imports and Urban Outfitters, Montgomery Plaza is also home to art boutiques and speciality restaurants. Located in one of the city’s most lively urban neighborhoods, Montgomery Plaza is within walking distance of Fort Worth’s Cultural District, featuring the Will Rogers Memorial Center, the Fort Worth Zoo, and the Fort Worth Botanical Garden.
Sundance Square
Sundance Square spans 35 blocks and is comprised of 42 buildings in downtown Fort Worth. Featuring a mix of both historic and modern architecture, Sundance Square offers a variety of shops, restaurants, galleries and event spaces. Stores include national chains like H&M, Jos. A. Bank Clothiers, Loft and White House Black Market, as well as merchandise shops for both the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Cowboys.
PLANO
Legacy Town Center
Also known as the Shops at Legacy, this Plano mixed-use development features high-end retail, world-class bars and restaurants, a Marriott Hotel, and an Angelika Film Center independent theater. Visitors will find national chains Lululemon, Urban Outfitters, and Luke’s Locker, and Texan boutiques like Kendra Scott, Elaine Turner and Ella Bleu.
ADDISON
Village on the Parkway
Village on the Parkway is one of the Metroplex’s premier shopping, entertainment and dining districts. It spans 25 acres and is home to over 50 stores and restaurants. Its anchors are Whole Foods, AMC Theater, and 24 Hour Fitness, but it also has chains like Francesca’s and popular restaurants like Hopdaddy’s.
SOUTHLAKE
Southlake Town Square
Southlake Town Square is an upscale mixed-use development located in the heart of Southlake. Not only does Southlake Town Square feature 95 stores and 27 restaurants, it also has single family residences, a Hilton hotel, three parks, and movie theater. The Square has also incorporated Southlake’s town hall, DPS headquarters, municipal court, and public library.
