The renowned opera, contemporary music and film music German conductor, Christian Schumann, will join the guest conductors attending the 10th Tenerife International Film Music Festival (FIMUCITÉ), which will be held from September 23rd to October 1st. Schumann will be conducting the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife (OST) at the concert “Space Opera: The Music of the Stars”, on September 30th in Auditorio de Tenerife “Adán Martín”. The concert on Wednesday, September 28th, will pay tribute to the composer and conductor Shirley Walker, who died in 2006, with the participation of the Symphony Band of the Conservatory of Music (CPM) of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, conducted by José Toledo. Teacher in the CPM and the Conservatory of Music (CSM) of the Canary Islands, in the disciplines of Trumpet and Ear Training, Toledo will conduct a programme that includes several world premieres of the work of Shirley Walker, as well as other pieces that bear her legacy composed by Lolita Ritmanis, Michael McCuis-tion and Kristopher Carter, founding members of Dynamic Music Partners. This concert will take place at the Guimerá Theatre in Santa Cruz. Last year, Toledo taught the subject of Band and, with other teachers of the CPM (Federico Gascó and Javier Llopis/ Woodwinds, Domingo Abreu/ Brass, Sixte Escrihuela/ Percussion, Miguel Jaubert and Mónica Chirino/ Strings, and Any Diaz/ Piano) and the whole Clarinet section of the CPM and the CSM (Vicente Ferrer, Eloísa González, Moisés Évora, Juan F. Álvarez and Antonio J. Sanchís), he faces, under the organisation of the CPM management team and the collaboration of the CSM, the direction of the Band FIMUCITÉ X. This activity belons to the programme of the Centre and has been carried out, for the last ten years by former teachers (Jose Luis Cebolla, Benigno Cedres and Julio Castañeda). Also, the recital “Animated Warner Heroes” will take place on September 29th in the Guimerá Theater. The concert will be conducted by José A. Cubas, who has been responsible for launching the Symphony Orchestra, which is participating for the first time in FIMUCITÉ, under the agreement between the Conservatory and the Festival. This new musical formation is born with all the enthusiasm and dedication thanks to the collaborative work between the director, the students and the teachers of different instrumental specialties of the CPM and the CSM (Isabel Osorio/ Flute, Federico Gasco/ Oboe, Juan Félix Álvarez and Eloísa González/ Clarinet, Sixte Escrihuela/ Percussion, Miguel Jaubert and Cristina Padron/ Strings, Inés González and José María Collado/ Horn, Deanna Dee Decker, José Domingo Abreu/ Trombone, José Corviniano / Tuba). All the pieces of this programme have been composed by Ritmanis, McCuistion and Carter, Emmy Award winners, who will also conduct pieces of a concert which will include the world premiere of the music for the hit Warner Bros. TV series “Teen Titans”, arranged specifically for FIMUCITÉ. Cubas is currently a Trombone teacher at both the CPM and at the CSM. The Closing Night Gala, which will be held in Auditorio de Tenerife “Adán Martín”, will put the final touch to FIMUCITÉ X with a tribute to the composer Howard Shore. The concert will be conducted by Diego Navarro, the most well-known film music composer and conductor in the film industry of the Canary Islands, author of the music for “Capture the Flag”, among other films, and founder and director of FIMUCITÉ. The acclaimed compo-ser for “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” trilogies will receive one of the FIMUCITÉ-Antón García Abril Awards at the Closing Night Gala on October 1st. Likewise, the composers Óscar Navarro and Federico Jusid, who will attend FIMUCITÉ to collect their Spanish Critics Choice Awards 2016, given by Scoremagacine, will both conduct, at the beginning of the concert on September 30th, the OST performing their works. Thus, the Spanish composer Óscar Navarro, Best Original Score Award winner, will release the world premiere of the suite for the Goya Award winner documentary “Sueños de sal”. The Argentinian Federico Jusid, Best Spanish (or Settled in Spain) Composer Award winner will conduct his music for the television series “Isabel” and “Carlos” and for the film “Misconduct”. The Tenerife film Choir and the Children’s Choir of the Conservatory of Music of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, directed by Cristina Farrais and Juan Ramón Vinagre, respectively, will also participate in the concerts held at Auditorio de Tenerife “Adán Martín”.
