2017-01-11

I know it has been ‘back to business’ for a couple of weeks but I’ve been a little flakey with getting back in to the swing of things - as I’m sure we all are after the Christmas break. (Totally suffering from the Christmas blues right now)

Now we’re in the second week of 2017, it means it’s time to take EVERYTHING seriously. There is no excuse. It’s back to the daily grind.

Skincare Heroes For A Radiant, Healthy-Looking, Glowing Look

December was a busy but fun month. It was the month when it was acceptable to eat chocolate for breakfast, scoff yourself silly with cheese, and enjoy a festive tipple or five. The month of “oh, go on then!”. The month of the guilt-free ‘all you can eat’. And holy moly, has my skin suffered for it! Dry, irritated, an outbreak of spots, rough texture… I felt (and looked) a bit ghastly.

Besides from over-indulging, other factors that effected my skin includes being out in the freezing cold for hours and hours (the Christmas markets are 100% worth it though!), wearing more make-up that usual, and straying from my usual skincare routine for the last week of the year. Strangely, also, the hard water at my parent’s house didn’t do me any favours either.

Luckily, being a beauty blogger, I get to test a lot of skincare and have accumulated a plethora of products to help me fix any skin problem I’m experiencing. Everything is (almost) back to normal now; work, routine, life, and my skin! And where my skin is concerned, I have this lot of thank for.

7 Beauty Heroes For Dry, Dehydrated Skin

The following 7 skincare treatments have been my dry skin saviour, in particular the last couple of weeks.

Each of the 7 products all do slightly different things, but basically, if your skin needs a bit of rescuing this post-party season, check out this bunch of beauty heroes for healthy-looking, glowing skin this winter.

Pestle & Mortar Pure Hyaluronic*, £36 (shop link)

I use this serum once a day in the morning to keep my skin hydrated. It contains 2% concentrate of hyaluronic acid and for plumper skin, a single drop from the pipette dispenser is all you need. It's the best hyaluronic acid serum I have used to date, and I've tested many since the ingredient became the beauty industry's buzz word a few years back! Pestle & Mortar's Pure Hyaluronic has a thick, gloopy consistency which turns in to a smooth, watery liquid once it touches your skin.

Jurlique Activating Water Essence*, £40 (shop link)

I am so thankful for this Activating Water Essence from Jurlique. It was the step in skincare I didn't know I needed - but it is sooo needed for a continuous hydration that lasts throughout the working day. Made with Marshmallow Root (which doesn't look as pretty as I imagined it to look!) but it does the fine job of refreshing, revitalising, softening and hydrating my tired-looking skin. If you're not sure about this and don't want to fork out £40 for the 150ml full size product, you can buy a 10ml miniature bottle to sample (£5.00).

Roger & Gallet Le Soin Aura Mirabilis Beauty Vinegar*, £15 (shop link)

This has replaced my toner... Not that toner was a significant part of my skincare routine (although it should be, and maybe my pores wouldn't be as big as they are today!) but I have incorporated Roger & Gallet's Beauty Vinegar in to my daily skincare routine. I look forward to using this every day (after cleansing), it is just BRILLIANT. This beauty vinegar is part of Roger & Gallet's new(ish) skincare range, Le Soin Aura Mirabilis and I'm telling you, it is more effective than any toner I have ever used.

The vinegar-based formula clarifies, smoothes, refines the skin's texture, removes make-up effectively, tightens pores, and leaves skin feeling clean without stripping it of it's natural oils. Quite the hard working vinegar, if you ask me, and EXACTLY what my skin desperately needs at the moment! Oh, and don't worry, it doesn't smell anything like vinegar!

Antonia Burrell Biotech Suprême Pressed Serum*, £85 launch price / £95 RRP (shop link)

Every single product I have used in Antonia Burrell's skincare range has worked an absolute treat. It never lets me down, so when I got the chance to try the new Biotech Suprême Pressed Serum, the World's first all-natural pressed serum, I knew it would be effective with immediate results. And I wasn't wrong.

Described as a game-changer, Antonia Burrell has spent five years developing this 'miracle exlixir' that brings together the clinical proven science of green biotechnology with the most effective and rare plant extracts.

It has a heft price tag attached to it, but it is such a fantastic serum that sees glowing, radiant results even after the first use. Every precious drop of this quenches, plumps, and lifts, as well as protecting from premature ageing, pigmentation, inflammation, acne, and oxidation. I have been using it twice daily but once my skin isn't as dry, I will apply the serum in the evenings only.

Other products I recommend from Antonia Burrell range are Pure Facial Therapy Face Oil and Mask Suprême 7-in-1.

Simply Argan Night Oil*, £19 (shop link)

Depending on which one I use, facial oils can either make or break(-me-out). I will know when my skin doesn't agree to a certain one... It will make my chin and jaw bone area feel like sandpaper!! Really strange how an oil can also be drying!

Usually though, face oils can have the most amazing effect on my skin and is something I've enjoyed using for a few years. For nights, I've been using Simply Argan Night Oil for it's calming formula of argan oil, lavendar, sweet orange, and sandalwood. It relaxes me (and my face) at bedtime!

Pestle & Mortar Superstar Retinol Night Oil*, £62.95 (shop link)

This is the first (and currently, only) retinol I use and I am applying twice a week at the moment. It is designed to be used at night so that the retinoid can work while you sleep to repair the skin's structure, stimulate cell growth, and boost collagen production. All the marvellous things that help your skin to look beautifully healthy and youthful.

Tropic Super Greens Nutrient Boost Serum*, £42 (shop link)

If you're looking for a serum that is suitable for vegans, why not try  Tropic's Super Greens Nutrient Boost Serum? The key ingredients in this lightweight green serum are concentrated chlorophyll, kale, maca root extracts, organic tamanu oil, and green coffee extract.

The scent of this serum is quite unique. It's a leafy green fragrance with a strong hit of coffee. Yeah, I told you it's unique! It's not exactly unpleasant but it takes some getting used to!

All of this green goodness delivers a dose of nutrients to supercharge your skin's natural defences and accelerate ate skin repair (OMG, yes, please! Repair my skin at lightening speed!). It is suitable for sensitive skin too.
