Ask any Utahn which state has the best snow and they’ll quickly tell you that Utah has the greatest snow on earth. And if you ask anyone who’s ever skied in Utah, they’ll tell you the same thing.
But skiing isn’t the only way to enjoy the greatest snow on earth—snowmobiling is another fun way to get outdoors and play in Utah’s snowy terrain. So grab a helmet, hop on a snowmobile and race along the trails at these top Utah snowmobiling spots.
Strawberry
With miles and miles of groomed trails for new and seasoned riders, easy access to each trail and beautiful surrounding mountain scenery, Strawberry is one of the most sought after snowmobiling areas in the entire state. Daniels Loop is well-maintained and great for families and new riders, as is Starvation Creek, which is also a perfect spot to observe elk and deer. But Strawberry Trail is a local favorite, as its wide trail hugs the western shores of the Strawberry Reservoir, has extensive play areas as well as various side loop trails for you to explore new country. Plus, the Strawberry snowmobile area is only a one-hour drive from Salt Lake City.
Mirror Lake

Mirror Lake interconnects with Strawberry and Mill Hollow, all of which are typically covered in snow from November to May. But the Mirror Lake complex itself is a winter wonderland of mountain snowmobiling high up in the Uinta Mountains. Many riders start off at Nobletts, a three-mile trail that has a large trailhead with restroom, a handful of play areas and wintering wildlife. Mirror Lake Highway is another go-to trail. Although 35 miles in length, it’s an easy trail that takes you up to the peak of Bald Mountain where you can overlook the gorgeous snow-covered area. There are places for off-roading and play areas, but many of these spots are on frozen lakes so use extreme caution with them.
Monte Cristo

Residing a few miles east of Huntsville, Monte Cristo is a very popular loop ride. The Curtis Creek and Ant Flat 63-mile loop goes through these two areas, as well as past Hardware Ranch, and provides picturesque views of Cache Valley. The scenery and switchbacks offer the views and rider variety every touring snowmobilers would want.
Cedar Mountain

The Cedar Mountain snowmobile complex provides the most extensive and well-marked trails throughout the southern part of Utah. If you’re looking for the best wintry scenery, drive along High Mountain Trail or Lars Fork Trail. The first is located up in the Cedar Mountains, where you’ll see views of cliffs and the Cedar Breaks National Monument, while the latter includes numerous scenic pullouts overlooking Zion National Park and the Virgin River Valley. For good snowmobile terrain, take your high-powered ride to the Cedar Breaks, Duck Creek and Brian Head trailheads.
