From Treatment to Tattoos

Updates on the latest in Breast Cancer Research, Treatments & Reconstruction

Tuesday, October 18 from 7:30 - 9:30 PM

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 12%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.

What is a young woman’s risk for breast cancer?

What is the diagnostic tool that is best for you?

About 5-10% of breast cancers can be linked to gene mutations (abnormal changes) inherited from one’s mother or father. Mutations of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes are the most common. You are substantially more likely to have an abnormal breast cancer gene if you are of Ashkenazi Jewish (Eastern European) heritage.

What does this mean for Jewish women and other high risk groups?

In recent years, there’s been an explosion of life-saving treatment advances against breast cancer. Instead of only one or two options, today there’s a menu of treatment and reconstructive choices.

What are the latest surgery and chemo options?

If you or a friend had breast implants, should you get the new implants offered now?
