Club-Sandwich - Peace or Pain? Blessing or Curse?
Sunday, February 26 at 11:45 AM
One of every eight Americans aged 40 to 60 falls into club-sandwich and the number in the club is expected to double by 2030. Club-sandwich is the generation of people who care for their aging parents while supporting their own children. The pressures and implications of this situation are real and can present many challenges. Where do you fit in as you age? How do you honor and respect your parents when you disagree with their wishes? How do you manage your time as you care for your children at home? Club-sandwich can be a curse or a blessing, can bring peace or pain, or a bit of both, as our guest Rabbi Richard F. Address, D. Min., Director of Jewish Sacred Aging, will discuss with us. We will learn from him how to look at aging through Jewish teachings including respecting our parents as they need our care. He will examine the traditional interpretations of the commandment to honor and respect our parents and look at how the texts and tradition can be understood in light of the contemporary issues.
