Forget the fact that I had to get out of my best friend’s birthday party to watch and write about Kuch Rang Pyar Ke Aise Bhi’s maha episode, I was actually a little excited to watch this particular episode. But alas! I was more disappointed than happy. What could have been a regular half an hour show was stretched to ONE HOUR of unnecessary drama, the game of stares and Bollywood song sequences!

How happy I would have been if the episode had ended with Sona (Erica Fernandes) and Ishwari (Supriya Pilgaonkar) finally facing each other. I expected a war of words between the two but it seems like they won’t be facing each other until the next episode. Shaheer Sheikh’s acting was the only thing that kept the episode going. He portrayed the role of devdas perfectly.

Though, I have a bone to pick with the makers of the show. What’s with the excessive staring in the show? We know that Dev and Sonakshi are hurt and going to be awkward around each other. But why waste 15-20 minutes of everybody’s precious times to just show them staring at each other in intervals!

To add to the misery, there was a song sequence in the episode. Guess which one! It was the title track of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil! While I love this song, I kept wondering why Rithvik (Jay Soni) and Sona are dancing to a song about one-sided love on their ENGAGEMENT NIGHT? What kind of sadistic family plays a sad song for their kids who are about to be married! Rithvik is staring into Sona’s eyes while dancing (duh!) but she is looking at Dev. How does he not notice it or have a problem with it? Too desperate to get married?

Ishwari is only shown cribbing about the fact that her son went against her orders to go to Sonakshi’s engagement ceremony. Even when she hears her daughters talk about how emotionally difficult this time is for Dev. You know what would have been more interesting? Ishwari going after Dev sneakily to the engagement ceremony location in an attempt to stop him and seeing her son getting drunk. Now that would have been dramatic.

I sat through an entire hour of the episode including a precap of the next episode and couldn’t help but regret it! The precap shows Sona drop Dev to Ishwari Niwas and a drunken Dev begging her to get back with him. While all of this was happening, Ishwari hides near the stairs and sees. Meanwhile at the engagement venue, Bejoy tries to explain to Rithvik and his parents that Sona is just helping Dev out of humanity. Who are you kidding, bruh? You are making people believe that Sona isn’t into Dev when the entire world, including Rithvik and his dad, know about her past with Dev.

There was absolutely nothing interesting in the “maha” episode and I am writing this as a fan of the show. I follow the show diligently and was expecting so much drama and masala. It was indeed the slowest one hour of my life!
