MUMBAI: Star Plus continued to reign supreme in the Hindi GEC genre even as there was no change in the pecking order, according to BARC data for the week ended 5 August.

Zee TV and Colors stayed at the No. 2 and No. 3 spots in the combined urban and rural Hindi-speaking markets (HSM).



Top 5 shows

In the urban + rural HSM, ‘Kukum Bhagya’ on Zee TV was the top-rated show. Colors’ ‘Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki’ was at the second position.

‘Jodha Akbar’, ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ and ‘Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Raani’ completed the top 5.



Top Hindi GECs in urban HSM

The top order in the urban HSM remained unchanged. Star Plus, Colors and Zee TV occupied the top three spots.

The only change was that of Star Utsav. The free-to-air (FTA) channel bagged the eighth position, pushing Zee Anmol to the ninth spot.



Top 5 urban HSM shows

The urban top five shows had ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma’ and ‘Udaan’ apart from ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, ‘Shakti’ and ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’.

Top Hindi GECs in rural HSM

Star Utsav continued to lead in the rural HSM, according to BARC data for the week ended 5 August.

Zee Anmol, Sony Pal and Zee TV retained the next three spots.

In the rural ranking, Star Plus moved up to the fifth spot while Rishtey dropped to the sixth position.

Top 5 shows in rural HSM

‘Jodha Akbar’ was the top show in the rural HSM. It was followed by ‘Kumkum Bhagya’, ‘Bandini’, ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya’ and ‘Kasam Hai Tujhe Aa Bhi Jaa’.

Hindi movie channels

&Pictures entered the top five rankings of the Hindi movie genre. The pecking order of the top four channels remained unchanged from the previous week, with Max leading the pack.

Top 5 programmes

‘Kanchana 2’, ‘PK’ and ‘Yevadu’ were the three most-watched films of the week.

The Pro Kabaddi final and play-off were also in the list of the five most-watched programmes.
