Putting an eye to details, Reliance Jio has partnered with more than 20 technology firms to streamline its OSS and BSS operations. These partners include some big global names as well as small firms in the business.
For a telecom operator, OSS/BSS, is responsible for the overall operational and billing of the services offered.
The Mukesh Ambani led company has finalised 12 partners for BSS and 10 for OSS.The BSS players include Cisco, SAP, HP, IBM, Telcordia, Rancore, Estel, Subex and Intec where as the prominent OSS firms finalised include Telcordia, HP and Friendly Tech.
An internal Reliance Jio document in possession with TeleAnalysis shows the company is leaving no stone unturned to bring out a world class service to the country. The company, who is yet to launch its 4G services, has allocated dedicated job role to each partner with clear details.
For example, while marketing, sales & campaign management role lies with SAP-CRM, the contact center operations will be looked after by SAP-CRM and Cisco module. Similarly, content billing will be handled by SAP-CC where as dealer & commission management will be taken care of by SAP along with Estel.
For product catalogue management, Jio has finalised Telcordia where as for mobility enablement Syclo has been selected.
“This kind of detailing has never been done in India before,” said a source who is well aware of the technical happenings at the firm. “It is being done to bring more credibility and accountability to the process,” he added.
The RIL promoted firm is expected to launch its much-awaited 4G LTE services anytime during this year. While the company was granted license and subsequent spectrum during 2010 spectrum auction, its yet to launch its services.
“We are a pan-India player and to launch services at this scale, it takes time and we are planning to bring out first of its kind experience to our customers,” the source reasoned.
So far, Bharti Airtel is the only player to have launched 4G services in the country and Reliance Jio is the sole operator to have pan-India 4G license.
