Partners Snapdeal for pan-India availability

Celkon Mobiles is planning to launch a smartphone with almost similar specs like that of Moto G but at half the price.

The Hyderabad headquartered handset maker Celkon Mobiles is expected to launch the smartphone in the last week of April. It is believed that Celkon is launching this smartphone keeping in mind the success of Moto G in India.

The yet to be launched Celkon smartphone will come with a 4.5 inch IPS OGS display and a quad core processor with 1.2 GHz output. It has 1 GB RAM, 16 GB internal memory which can further be expanded. Besides, the Celkon smartphone (we do not know the model number or name yet) will be having 13 megapixel rear camera and 3.2 megapixel front camera, compared to Moto G’s 5 megapixel rear camera.

While the price of Moto G is Rs 13,999 the Celkon smartphone would be priced around Rs 7499.

Specifications wise Motorola’s Moto G comes with 4.5 inch HD display with resolutions of 1280×720 with a 329 ppi (pixels per inch). It has a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front camera. It weighs at just 143 gram with a 2070 mAh battery which claims to offer power back up for a full day. The dual SIM Moto G uses android 4.3 Jelly bean OS.

The Motorola G comes with 1 GB RAM and uses a Qualcomm snapdragon 400 processor with a 1.2 GHz chip.

While the Motorola’s Moto G is running on android Jelly Bean OS, the Celkon device would come with android’s latest version – Kit Kat.

Following the footprints of Motorola’s Moto G launch in association with Flipkart, Celkon has tied up with Snapdeal for its pan India launch, a close source revealed. Initially the device will not be available at physical retail stores.

On a comparative basis the Celkon device scores over the Moto G. For Moto G’s 5 megapixel camera, Celkon offers 13 megapixel; for android Jelly bean with Moto G, Celkon uses the latest android OS Kit Kat and a 2500 mAh battery compared to 2070 mAh battery of Moto G. Though technical specification wise, the Celkon smartphone appears to have an edge over Motorola’s Moto G, we can give you a clarity once the phone is launched in India in end of April or beginning of May.
