2013-11-07

I joined other digital media influencers and the public relations team from the Four Seasons for real-time engagement on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, Calif.

Public relations directors from 14 different Four Seasons luxury hotels and resorts hosted a casual meet-and-greet event tonight in West Hollywood, Calif.

The Eveleigh restaurant and bar on Sunset Boulevard provided a picture-perfect setting under the evening’s cityscape lights. Media guests enjoyed organic farm-to-table artisanal food and sipped superb cocktails courtesy of the night’s mixologist.

Guests chatted with the Four Seasons team charged with engaging with savvy social media influentials and travel bloggers.

Increasingly sophisticated consumers rely upon on these digital publishers for credible information for their travel choices in the highly competitive luxury segment of the economy. And the relations developed with these media content providers — either traditional news media or digital media — go a long way to help position a brand for long-time success.

The race is on to capture the attention and travel dollars from these new high-end consumers who are more than ever before relying exclusively on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest as well as lifestyle blogs and travel websites.

The Andrew Harper Reader Survey released in September 2013 predicts significant growth in luxury travel with 33 percent of respondents planning to travel more than in the previous year.

During the evening, I found myself all consumed by learning about the different Four Seasons venues — from the nearby Beverly Wilshire to the far-flung Four Seasons Bora Bora — from the genuinely warm and helpful team.

Although I didn’t get to try all the beautiful food, I felt more than satisfied by doing what I think I do well — share helpful information via live tweets and Instagram videos. It was especially meaningful for me on the eve of the highly anticipated public offering of Twitter on the U.S. stock exchange.

Thanks to various social media channels, the Four Seasons website, hotels.com and other sources, here is my multimedia information to highlight tonight’s participants of the cocktail event.
