When you ask people about their entertainment, movies are on the top of their list. In recent times, movies, whether horror or sci-fi are in great demand because of their creativity and stories. People are often in awe of realizing that some movies are shot in their dream location (is it Paris or Amsterdam?). But is that true?
Shooting each and every scene at real locations isn’t possible today because of certain limitations like old-aged story line. There are some scenes that would also demand showing deceased people with the present actors. Those are all done using Visual Effects or VFX. Technically, VFX is the same like 3D animation, but the former uses live-action which completely merges with the real scene shoots. For example, in the Hollywood movie ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’, the apes were the real actors, computerized using different VFX software to convert them into apes. The actions, voices, and expressions of these actors were screened after which they were recreated as apes on the computer using different technologies. VFX and animation courses syllabi are framed to enable the students put these ideas in action to make a wonderful film that enthralls audience.

There are visual effects courses in India that aim at instilling every aspect of visual effects. They provide expert, market-oriented training in visual effects and also the basics of film-making. They cover designing in the form of paintings, composition techniques like color pigmentation, animation tricks, use of software, etc.
VFX is getting popular among movie makers because it not only saves time and money, but also helps story writers pen down the unimaginable like Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru honoring Farhan Akhtar (who played Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag). VFX is combined with 3D animation techniques to make the film look more realistic. If story involves characters like dinosaurs or an imaginary monster, both these techniques are merged to create scenes that’ll thrill the audience. An example of making one can be the monster introduced in the Vikram Bhatt movie ‘Creature 3D’. Structure of the unique creature was first made using Concept design on paper followed by Claymation (Combination of Clay model and animation) and Computer animation. To give visual effects, the character was merged with actors (Bipasha Basu, etc.) and scenes.

Students have misconceptions regarding animation and VFX due to the software and techniques used. For them, there are various VFX and animation courses that train students on efficiently using the art of animation and visual effects either individually or combined. These courses trains the students from basics like photography, designing, perspective creation, 2D animation, to advanced levels like using software, 3D animation, pre and post-production dynamics and composition, etc.
In India, films with visual effects are made in such a manner which creates more impact of the scene that goes on. Many blockbuster movies like Chak De! India, Happy New Year, Chennai Express, Bhootnath, etc. and international hits like Interstellar, Avatar, and etc. have successfully used visual effects to execute the scenes that are actually impossible . Visual effects courses in India are very much demand because of the inspiration that aspirants draw from such type of films screened across the world.
