Steps for Downloading the Android 5.0 for Nexus 5 and 7:

First of all you have to maintain a backup of the files present in your device, wishing to be kept for safeguarding. Download the Android L Developer Preview for Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 from here. Get the Android USB Driver for Nexus 5 and 7 installed on your system; make the Fastboot/ADB files for Windows downloaded in your Windows PC. Make sure that you have allowed the USB Debugging on your Nexus device.



Step 1:

Now extract the files with the help of 7zip which is perfect for this process downloaded through the links given above and try to make a new folder with a name for the extracting the files in that new folder. The extraction process will take a couple of minutes.

Step 2:

After the extraction process gets completed, open the Command Prompt and type in the command cd USERNAME/desktop/android.



Step 3:

Turn off the Nexus 5 and 7 devices and boot them into bootloader mode by doing:

Nexus 5: Volume Button Up+Down+Power Button

Nexus 7: Volume Button Down+Power Button

Then before doing flashing of factory image, ensure that the device is detected by your system. And then type the command into command prompt fastboot devices. It will show the confirmation that the Android device is detected by the system and is the confirmation doesn’t prompts up, then repeat the step again.

Step 4:

For unlocking the bootloader in your Nexus device by writing the command fastboot oem unlock. Confirm the selection made on Nexus device through pressing the Volume button Up, at the time it is unlocked then you can jump to the next step.

Step 5:

On your Windows PC, copy the following command and paste it in the Command prompt window which is flash-all.bat

After doing all this the flashing process will be completed and the Nexus device will reboot with the installed Android L with the features. The first boot of the device will be a pretty bit long and it will take it time to boot up.
