Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion comes with more than 200 new features. The new iCloud integration and syncing features give you the same experience across all your devices. Other prominent features, most of which are inspired from iOS, include Messages for sending and receiving iMessages on Mac, Notification center, AirPlay to stream content from Mac to Apple TV and speech to text dictation.

When Apple released Mac OS X 10.7 Lion last year, users were either required to download it via Mac app store or buy a USB drive from Apple stores. But this time around, download from Mac app store is the only way out. Also remember, upgradation to Mountain Lion requires you to be running either Mac OS X 10.7 Lion or Mac OS X 10.6.6 Snow Leopard.

Those who had bought a Mac on or after June 11th, will be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion free of cost. Visit this link to request a free upgrade.
