A while back we started this series in the hope that those of you who would like to purchase either a smartphone or a tablet (but at the same time don’t want to sell your soul to benefit from all the powerful hardware today’s devices have to offer) would find it easier to choose between the hundreds of devices we have on the market.
While we managed to pack the best unlocked smartphones under $300 in a single list, when it came to tablets, the gaps in screen sizes and the sheer number of devices allowed us to feature both the 7-inch tablets under $250, which is quite a good price for powerful and ultra-portable tablet, and the tablets with screen sizes varying from 8 to 9 inches under the $350 mark, where we saw lots of Windows 8 devices.
Best 10-inch and Above Tablets under $400
Last but not least, we’ll be featuring a list of the most affordable tablets which offer a screen real-estate upwards of 10 inches. These devices are perfectly suitable for those of you who like to work on your mobile device, but also enjoy the occasional movie on a bigger screen.
Google Nexus 10
No list of quality devices which have a low price tag is complete without a Nexus product, and the Google Nexus 10 is the one for this lineup. Granted the device is of an older generation, it’s gorgeous screen and still decent specs make it a great solutions for those who want a cheap, but good 10-inch tablet. The strong suit of this cheap 10 inch tablet is its screen, which has a resolution that can challenge many of this year’s tablets.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1
Last year’s Galaxy Tab 3 still is a pretty decent device if you do’t want to spend too much on a 10 inch tablet. The device is powered by an Intel Atom Z2560 processor making it pretty battery efficient, and thanks to its IR blaster, you can pair it up with your other home devices and use it as a remote. While it won’t do as well as modern tablets with intensive apps, it will work fine if you’re more about watching videos or web browsing.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1
Going even further in time, we’re looking at the Galaxy Tab 2, which is couple of years old, but in terms of its specs, it is very similar to the Tab 3. In all likelihood, if you were interested in a lower-spec model and you’d have gone with the Tab 3, then the previous version will suit you just fine. The device’s performance is decent, considering its somewhat outdated hardware, but as far as screen size and resolution, it’s the same as the Tab 3, but you’ll be shaving a few bucks off.

ASUS MeMO Pad FHD 10
Design is pretty important for all mobile devices, and depending on what your cup of tea is, you will be inclined to favor particular models. If your more of a fan of minimalist design, then you should definitely check out the ASUS MeMO Pad 10, which is an awesome looking 10 inch tablet that doesn’t put you back too much. Its specs are decent for the price it goes for and being slim and lightweight, it’s perfect for carrying around. The only downside of the device is its somewhat plastic feel.

Microsoft Surface RT
For work or school purposes I would say that any Windows 8 powered tablet will do just fine, but if you don’t want to spend a fortune on a 10 inch tablet running Windows 8 Pro, then you’ll have to make due with an RT device. Microsoft’s Surface RT is a good example of a cheap tablet running the company’s latest operating system, and for day-to-day use, it will suit you just fine. Even more, thanks to its above-average specs, it will do pretty good in gaming also.

HP Omni O10-5600US
HP’s take on cheap 10-inch tablets is to create what can essentially be regarded as a work horse, but with no disregard for design, which for those who are not impressed by “bling” is very stylish and well thought. Maybe it’s the whim of the moment, as I usually find HP products dull and unappealing , but the Omni is a pretty good looking device with lots of connectivity options such as microHDMI and microSD card slot. Also, like most other Windows 8 tablets, it comes with Microsoft Office suite pre-installed.

ASUS Transformer TF300
I quite enjoyed the Transformer series ASUS came up with. Even though some users have complained about faulty wireless signals in a few models, the fact remains that this 10 inch tablet is still a worthy competitor when it comes to cheap 10 inch tablets. The device’s more than average specs give it the power it needs to run demanding games, and thanks to its size and quality display, it is also suitable for watching videos or web browsing. These advantages coupled with the ability to attach a docking stations and transform it into an Android laptop make the ASUS Transformer TF300 a favourite in this list.

As much as we’d like, there is no way we could include all the tablets out there in this list.
