Samsung has unveiled the fifth-generation of its Galaxy S smartphone at the recently ended 2014 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, after plenty of rumors, leaks and teases which eventually turned out to be true. However, as always, many were disappointed, so, in order to convince users that the Galaxy S5 is a really worthy upgrade to the Galaxy S4, Samsung has bundled loads of freebies with purchase of the fifth-generation Galaxy S, claimed to be worth $575.
Dubbed as “Samsung Galaxy Gifts”, the freebies are being described as ‘meaningful rewards from the world’s top brands’. The apps are pretty divers, ranging from fitness to mobile payment apps. And, as a matter of fact, many of these will help make your Galaxy S5 experience ‘more enjoyable and productive’, so let’s have which these are in detail.
Run Keeper - free 1-year membership to personal trainer app RunKeeper Elite (worth $20)
Skimble – 6 months free Pro+ premium membership experience to use the workout app (worth $42)
Wall Street Journal – free 6-months full access for free to one of the best business outlets (worth $160)
PayPal – special offers totaling $50 or more in value when you pay with PayPal at stores
EasilyDo Pro – time management and note taking app ( worth $5)
Cut the Rope 2 – free $10 game credit
Box – free 50 GB of storage for 6 months ($60 value)
Evernote – 3 months of “Evernote Premium“ for one account ($15)
Lark – 12 months free for the premium Personal Wellness Assistant app (worth $36)
Map My Fitness – 6 months free premium service to one of the best fitness apps (worth $36)
Bloomberg Businessweek – 12 months subscription for free (worth $30)
Linkedin – free LinkedIn Premium account for 3 months (worth $75)
Blurb – free coupon to create your own professional-quality printed photo book (worth $5)
Flick Dat – app to turn contacts into stylized business cards (worth $2)
Bitcasa – 1TB storage for 3 months (worth $30)
From what I’m aware off, it’s the first time when such a big player like Samsung comes up with so many goodies bundled with the purchase of a flagship device. Usually, you’d see 50 GB of storage or 1 year of free Skype calls or whatnot. But this time, we’re talking about almost $600 goodies. Of course, you might not need all of them, but hey, these are features you’re getting for free. So, what does this mean? Personally, I think that Samsung is well aware of the fact that the Galaxy S5 will have some trouble selling, so they tried to entice users with some more than an incrementally updated device.
