In a statement released today, Khalid Wani, Sales Director, Branded Products, India, Middle East & Africa, said;

“With thousands of files spread across several different computing devices, digital chaos is a challenge that consumers face on a daily basis. Consumers want access to all their data, all the time. WD’s My Cloud personal cloud storage is an easy-to-use, secure and cost effective storage solution that will empower consumers to live their digital lives without limits.”

WD stated, citing a forecast by Gartner, that an average household will own 3.3TB digital contents by 2016. The company considered the estimation and brought its My Cloud to give centralised storage across a range of devices, including smartphones, tablets and desktops, running on Windows, Mac, Android and iOS platforms.

WD My Cloud allows its users to share files, stream media and access contents from anywhere using an active Internet connection. The drive itself required an active power and Internet connection to provide a centralise storage solution for the households.

Apart from providing cloud storage with any subscription fee, WD My Cloud also comes with an option to back up computers and digital files. The drive also supports DLNA for streaming multimedia contents over supported devices. Besides, the drive comes with a support to transfer files between Dropbox, OneDrive, Google Drive and other cloud storage accounts.

On the part of specifications, WD My Cloud is powered by a dual-core ARM processor, and comes with Gigabit Ethernet and USB 3.0 connectivity options. There is 128-bit EAS encryption for cloud to secure user contents and the drive is operational through a web-based UI.

WD My Cloud will be available in India with a price tag of Rs. 10,999 for 2TB, Rs. 12,999 for 3TB and Rs. 14,999 for 4TB. Android and iOS users can access the stored contents through My Cloud app which is now available on Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
