Google Play Store now has over 1 million apps. The 1 million plus apps figure makes the Play Store as the largest app store among other popular app stores including Apple App Store and Windows Phone store.
Google Play officially crosses over 1 million apps record!
At Google’s breakfast event on Wednesday Sundar Pichai, SVP of Android and Chrome at Google, has revealed that now Google Play Store has over 1 million apps. The Play Store becomes the giant app store with wide range of apps and games even in comparison of Apple Store. In contrast of Google Play Store, Apple App Store reported over 850,000 apps in May and now it is expected to have nearly 900,000 apps.
Few days back, Google CEO Larry Page reported 50 billion app downloads along with over 900 million active Android devices since launch. In addition to Page’s report, Sundar Pichai reported at the breakfast event that the Play Store is now providing 2.5 times more revenue to Android developers which will influence more developers and would result higher apps record in the coming future.
Google has also announced Google Play Games and Textbooks services at the event. The new services in the form of Google Play Games and Textbooks will be available within Google Play Store from the month of August. Google Play Games service is designed to offer new level of gaming along with real-time multiplayer support. On the other hand, Textbooks service will offer ebooks and study material for higher classes. Textbooks service will cover a number of subjects including Science, Accounting, Law, Mathematics and more.
