TRUMBO GOES FROM BLACKLIST TO RED CARPET

Screenwriter Dalton Trumbo spent a great deal of his career blacklisted from Hollywood and even spent 11 months in prison for refusing to name names during the McCarthy witch hunts against Communism. But on Tuesday, the brightest stars of stage and screen turned up at the Museum of Modern Art for the premiere of “Trumbo,” which celebrates his life and times.

For “Breaking Bad” star Bryan Cranston, who plays Trumbo in the movie, making the film taught him a lesson.

“It allowed me to open up and learn, not only Hollywood history but this dark period in American history and realize that oppression in whatever form is an ugly thing, and even uglier if it’s done by your government,” he said. “It’s the cautionary tale that civil liberties are not to be messed with. They’re to be taken very seriously.”

Helen Mirren, who also stars in the film about the writer who penned “Spartacus,” “Roman Holiday” and “Exodus,” said she knew the story from her dad.

“My father was a left-wing Socialist the way Dalton Trumbo was, and I grew up with those kinds of attitudes in my household,” she said. According to Mirren, America’s loss was England’s gain during the Red Scare.

“We benefited because a lot of the very great artists came to live and work in Britain, where they were welcomed,” she said.

MISTY WATCHES TV TAKE ON BALLET

Misty Copeland and generations of American Ballet Theatre dancers turned out for the premiere of Starz’s new limited series “Flesh and Bone” at NYU’s Skirball Center on Monday night. The series stars ABT-trained Sarah Hay, along with former principal dancers Irina Dvorovenko and Sascha Radetsky, and was choreographed by Ethan Stiefel. The dancers agreed that the series’ portrayal of a volatile artistic director who wreaks havoc on his dancers’ lives was taken from real life. “Being torn apart can be an everyday thing,” admits Hay.

The “King of Queens” star carried a small java out of a SoHo hotel and the cup bore the kind of label generally reserved for avid coffee drinkers who order through the Starbucks app. Remini’s new book “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology” details her decision to walk away from the controversial religion. The church claims she was expelled.

DR. RUTH FIGHTS ROUSEY

How often do you see the words “lube,” “anal sex,” “Dr. Ruth” and the name of a Daily News reporter in the same tweet? It happened Wednesday after News reporter Gersh Kuntzman posted a story about mixed martial arts champ Ronda Rousey’s aversion to having sex with lubricants or other artificial sweeteners. “She’s wrong,” Dr. Ruth Westheimer tweeted back. “Not every woman makes enough of her own & older women lose ability.” The legendary sexpert added for good measure, “If a couple enjoys anal sex, lube is essential, @gershkuntzman.”
