In the debut animated short for Sombra, Overwatch‘s newest hero, she says “boop.” Twice. Fans? They loved it.

They love it so much, in fact, that they want it to actually be in the game as an unlockable voice line. Unfortunately, sifting through the PTR update with Sombra revealed that the boop was curiously absent.

So, fans petitioned Blizzard. Guess what? Blizzard’s making it happen. Here’s Michael Chu, Senior Game Designer, on the forums.

It’s going in, replacing one of the existing ones.

*boop*

We booped, Blizzard listened

I doubt Blizzard thought fans would react to Sombra’s “boop” the way they did. Sure, in the short it’s a funny bit, but it actually gained some traction on social media and fan sites.

Blizzard probably didn’t include the “boop” because they didn’t think they needed to. They probably didn’t even think it would be such a, well, “thing.” Once the world spoke up, Blizzard listened, and now this stupid subtle detail will be in the game.

I love that, don’t you?

BOOP.
