I thought there’d be a lull following all the Comic-Con news last week, but that just wasn’t the case. Not only did we get a solid look at the characters in X-Men: Apocalypse, but the first trailer for Suicide Squad was released, and it was glorious.

If you haven’t checked out our recaps of the Batman v Superman trailer, along with everything we learned from the Suicide Squad footage, you can check those out here and here. Otherwise, it was relatively quiet in terms of trailer and earth-shattering news. Instead, the airwaves were dominated by a lot of small blurbs; Deadpool trailer soon; a new Batman picture, etc. All good stuff!

Deadpool trailer in three weeks

A spectacular Deadpool trailer was shown off at SDCC, and by all accounts it stole the show. Unfortunately, an official version hasn’t been released just yet. That could change, however, early next month. According to Ryan Reynolds, who is playing the loud-mouthed merc, something will be released in 3 weeks. You know what’s being released in 3 weeks? Fantastic Four. Perhaps we’ll see the trailer play before that film, though that’s pure speculation on my part.

As much as I want the #deadpool footage from #SDCC officially released, the VFX shots aren't done yet. We have something for you in 3 weeks.

New photo of Ben Affleck’s Batman

Remember that new Batman v Superman trailer? Remember how it showed off a “soldiered” Batman, who we saw walking through an apocalyptic desert? A new photo confirms that was indeed Affleck donning the more unusual Batman attire, but it’s unclear why. One theory is that the desert landscape is merely a nightmare of Batman’s, which could explain the mysterious Superman army. Or maybe Superman really has taken over the world because he can. John C. Reilly will return for Wreck-It Ralph 2

Not that there was any doubt, but John C. Reilly will apparently return for Wreck-It Ralph 2. The actor played the titular hero who goes out in search of a life outside his arcade cabinet. Wreck-It Ralph came out all the way back in 2012, so another movie in the beloved franchise is definitely due. If Reilly is indeed onboard, then perhaps we’ll see more movement about a proposed follow-up soon. [ComingSoon]

Tom Cruise’s insane Mission: Impossible stunt

We already knew Tom Cruise performed the wildly dangerous Mission: Impossible—Rogue Nation stunt. And this video further confirms just how insane (and challenging) it was. Cruise wound up making it out alive. But imagine if things went south. “Cruise cruises to his death after stunt goes bad.” At least he would have been doing what he loved. Rogue Nation hits theaters July 31.

Stan Lee’s X-Men: Apocalypse cameo will be different

When asked about his appearance in X-Men: Apocalypse, Stan Lee said it will be “different.” Not sure what he means, but OK. It apparently has “one additional thing in it,” which means he won’t simply be in the background as an extra. To that end, Lee said he loves all of his cameos, and couldn’t just pick one. Better be on the lookout when Apocalypse hits next year. [BusinessInsider]

Hotel Transylvania TV show in the works

Hotel Transylvania was a pleasant surprise, and the second movie looks even better. Apparently there’s so much hype around this franchis that Sony Pictures wants to bring it over to TV. The show is actually going to focus on Dracula’s daughter Mavis, though I’m sure it’ll still feature plenty of wacky characters from the movies. The show is set to debut in 2017, while the upcoming movie is scheduled for a Sept. 25 release date. [TheWrap]

Dan Aykroyd will have a Ghostbusters cameo

Dan Aykroyd will indeed make a cameo appearance in Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters. The actor, who played Dr. Raymond Stantz in the originals, announced he was shooting a scene for the upcoming movie. It’s unclear what role he’ll play, though rumors suggest he’ll be a New York cab driver who mutters, “I ain’t afraid of no ghost.” Awesome! Ghostbusters is set for a July 22, 2016 release.

No post-credit scene in Fantastic Four

A Marvel movie wouldn’t be a Marvel movie without a post-credit sequence. But Fantastic Four, which comes out in August, apparently won’t feature any such scene. According to actor Jamie Bell, who plays The Thing, audiences won’t be treated to any fun looks at what’s to come. Instead, the actor says the film clearly leaves the door open for future sequels. I guess that’s consolation?

Trailer for Narcos, a new Netflix original

Netflix just can’t stop churning out original content. After the service rolls out Wet Hot American Summer at the end of July, it has plans to release another series at the end of August. And above is the first trailer. Warning: it’s a little intense, so proceed with caution. Narcos, a 10-episode series, will chronicle the captivating life of Pablo Escobar, a notorious drug kingpin who rose to prominence in the 80s.

There’s going to be a live-action Aladdin prequel

I mean, Disney is on a tear with turning its best franchises into live-action movies. Why not Aladdin? But instead of doing a reimagining of the first film, the studio wants to develop a movie about Genies. Yes, plural. The movie could eventually lead into a live-action Aladdin remake, proving that no property will be left unturned at the Happiest Place on Earth.

Back to the Future 30th anniversary

We already celebrated Back to the Future’s 30th anniversary. But if you want to take your fandom to the next level, you can purchase a new DVD and Blu-ray boxset, which features a lot of cool extras. Even better, the first movie is going to be re-released in theaters later this year, though it’s unclear when and where. Once we have that information we’ll be sure to let you know. It’ll likely coincide with the new boxset, which you can pick up at the end of October. [PRNewsWire]

The Revenant trailer

Intense, beautiful, haunting, etc., etc. When this one is released on Dec. 25, no doubt those will be the words reviewers use to describe this western tale of survival. Directed by Alejandro G. Inarritu, The Revenant will follow Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) as he struggles to survive in the Wild West. Below is the movie’s official description.

Deep in the uncharted American wilderness, trapper Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is severely injured and left for dead by a traitorous member of his team, John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). With sheer will as his only weapon, Glass must navigate a hostile environment, a brutal winter, and warring Native American tribes in relentless quest to survive and exact vengeance on Fitzgerald. Based on a true story, THE REVENANT is directed and co-written by renowned filmmaker Alejandro González Iñárritu (“Birdman,” “Babel”).
