2015-06-06

We’ve been spoiled by a glut of juicy content this week. Not only did we see another spectacular trailer for the upcoming Mission: Impossible movie, but confirmation that James Wan is, in fact, going to direct Aquaman. Good move on the part of Warner Bros. Pictures. It’s just too bad we have to wait until 2018—three years from now—until that movie actually hits theaters.

We were also treated by the first official trailer from Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur, a fresh standalone streaming service from SHOWTIME, and a rumor about the second Star Wars Anthology movie. You want more Han Solo? Who doesn’t? These stories are but a few from this week, which is rife with some truly juicy rumors, of which we’ll talk about below.

Red Hulk in Captain America: Civil War

Here’s one to mull over. A number of sketchy reports have been pieced together with the conclusion that Red Hulk will appear in Civil War. In the comics, Red Hulk is General Thunderbolt Ross, who just so happens to be in the upcoming movie. That in and of itself doesn’t prove this rumor, but it would certainly make for a compelling reason to get Hulk, who ran off in Age of Ultron, to come back. [Bleedingcool]

Inside Out clip: “You’ve ruined pizza!”

In a delightful new Inside Out clip, we get a chance to see Riley and her different emotions react to the perils of San Francisco pizza. It isn’t a pretty sight, unless you do enjoy broccoli on your pizza. Just say, “No.” [Disney]

Hulk TV show coming to Netflix?

In other Hulk news, the green machine could get his own TV show—and it might be a prequel. Hulk has been the subject of many rumors regarding a TV show, and the walk just won’t die. Marvel is reportedly toying with several “concepts,” so who know how far this one will go. If it does get made, it could be included in its “Phase 2″ of Netflix shows. [HeroidHollywood]

No Nick Fury in Captain America: Civil War

Samuel L. Jackson told Collider straight-up that he won’t be in Captain America: Civil War—and even he doesn’t know why. “I can’t figure that out, but I’m not,” Jackson said. “I guess I’m still out there, trying to figure out what happened to SHIELD and who these other people are.” [Collider]

Why Josh Trank quit Star Wars

“It was the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life,” Trank told the LA Times about his departure from the second Star Wars Anthology film. It wasn’t due to creative differences or anything like that; Trank says he said the pressure and fan criticism lead to the decision

Everest gets its first trailer

Inspired by true events, Everest follows a team of climbers who get stranded on Everest when a storm comes sweeping in. It looks incredibly brutal, and the kind of movie that will not only mentally exhaust you, but physically as well. This one comes out on Sept. 18. [TBMovies]

The Walk gets a new trailer

Ever seen Man on Wire? No. It was a documentary about Philippe Petit, who walked on a wire between the Twin Towers in New York City. The Walk is the Hollywood-ized version of that, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Petit. [TBMovies]

Michael Bay makes a film

For better or worse, Michael Bay is attached to direct a movie called Time Salvager, which is based on the Wesley Chu sci-fi novel of the same name. When Bay doesn’t have his hands on Transformers, he’s not the worst director on the block, so, sure, this might turn out to be entertaining

Obi-Wan might get his own trilogy

I mean, Disney is already going buck-wild with the different Marvel movies, so why not do the same for Star Wars? Ewan McGregor is allegedly in talks to reprise his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi, with talk focusing around a trio of films that would take place between the prequels and original trilogy. [SchmowsKnow]

Batman’s weapon in Batman v Superman

And the best for last. Heroic Hollywood says that Batman could use a Kyptonite-laced spear to do battle with Superman. Remember in the trailer how Batman confidently told Superman he’ll bleed? Well, this could be how Batman makes him do it. And it is reportedly the weapon we saw Batman carrying in the trailer (image above), though it’s difficult to tell. Maybe, maybe not?
