Continuing to expand the range of services on its platform, Snapdeal has now partnered with UrbanClap. Under the partnership, Snapdeal will offer 80+ personal and home services available on UrbanClap through Snapdeal android app.

Last month, the company had made a similar move to integrate services of Zomato, Redbus, and Cleartrip with its platform. The announcement was made via a tweet by Anand Chandrasekaran, Chief Product Officer at Snapdeal who wrote,

UrbanClap 80+ services live on Snapdeal Android app, joining Zomato, Redbus, Cleartrip, and Freecharge.

It is noteworthy that Snapdeal founders Rohit Bansal and Kunal Bahl are also investors in UrbanClap. They had participated in its 10 crore seed round along with other investors SAIF Partners and Accel Partners.

UrbanClap offers a wide range of personal and home service through its mobile marketplace platform accessible through a mobile app.

These services include professional services such as Yoga instructor, Photographer, Interior designer, Tax consultant etc. as well as home services like Electrician, Plumber, Carpenter, Home cleaning, AC repair services, Pest control services etc.

It is currently available in 7 cities namely Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Ahmedabad, and Hyderabad. Like others (Zomato, Cleartrip, Redbus), UrbanClap will also give a commission to Snapdeal for every transaction made through its platform.

This integration with UrbanClap inventory of personal and home services follows the other new service categories on Snapdeal such as food ordering through Zomato, bus ticket booking through RedBus, and flight booking through ClearTrip.

Before these, Snapdeal had also introduced another new category of Real Estate and Financial Services on its website. It had partnered with real estate developers, like TVS Emerald, Provident Housing and Runwal Group for those services.

For Snapdeal, this  diversification of offerings on its platform will help it further drive customer engagement while at the same open alternate routes for revenues through services.

This is crucial for its survival given the intense competition from its rivals like Flipkart, Amazon, and PayTm. Moreover, unlike the sale of products which require warehousing and logistics facilities, such service based offerings don’t require any physical space and can be easily managed online.

However, Snapdeal is not the only company to do so as PayTm has also integrated similar third-party services and allows users to book air tickets and bus ticket directly through its platform.
