With festival season nearing, smartphone brands are set to flood the market with the new launches and offers. If you are planning to buy a new smartphone, we’d recommend to check out this list of the smartphones that will hit the Indian market this month. Read on:

October 7: Huawei Honor 7

Huawei is set to host an event in Delhi on October 6. The company is expected to launch its Honor 7 smartphone. The phone features a 5.2-inch full HD display. It is powered by HiSilicon Kirin 935 64-bit octa-core processor along with a Mali-T628 MP4 GPU for graphics. The phone runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with Huawei’s Emotion UI 3.1 on top. It sports 20-megapixel camera and 8-megapixel front facing camera. Connectivity options include LTE and dual SIM. So far, there’s no word on the pricing of the phone, but we expect it to be competitively priced.

October 8: Gionee Elife E8



Gionee has confirmed that it will be launching its Elife E8 smartphone in India on October 8. The E8 features a 6-inch QHD Super AMOLED display with 490 ppi. It runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with Amigo 3.1 UI on top. The smartphone is powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helior X10 processor along with 3GB of RAM. It is a dual-SIM smartphone with 4G LTE support. The E8 is powered by a 3520 mAh battery.

The main highlight of the E8 is the 24-megapixel rear camera which can deliver images with 120-megapixels resolution. The camera is equipped with six-element lens with sapphire glass and OIS. The smartphone has an 8-megapixel front facing camera. It features a fingerprint reader on the rear. So far there’s no word on the India pricing of the phone, but we expect it to be targeted at the high end segment.

October 8: Moto X Style



Motorola has sent out invites for its October 8 event in Delhi where the company is slated to launch its latest Moto X Style smartphone. The Moto X Style, a new variant of its Moto X, features a 5.7-inch QHD display with pixel density of 520ppi. Under the hood, the Moto X Style is powered by Qualcomm’s 1.8GHz Snapdragon 808 hexa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone will be available in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB options. There’s also a microSD card slot for further expansion.The Moto X sports a 21-megapixel rear camera of aperture f/2.0 with dual-CCT flash. It also supports 4K video recording capabilities. There is also a 5-megapixel wide-angle selfie camera with front-facing flash. The Moto X Style comes with a 3,000mAh battery with TurboPower feature.

October 13: LG Nexus 5X, Huawei Nexus 6P

Google’s new Nexus series is set to launch in India on October 13. The new Nexus phones – LG Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P – will be taking on the flagships from Samsung, Sony and even Apple, which is also going to launch its new phones later this month.

The Nexus 5X features 5.2-inch full HD display with 424 ppi, Qualcomm’s 64-bit hexa-core Snapdragon 808 SoC paired with Adreno 418 GPU and 2GB of RAM, 12.3-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel selfie camera. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth, GPS and a USB Type-C port. The devices comes with a 2,700mAh battery, a fingerprint sensor at the back and dual speakers on the front. The smartphone runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out-of-the-box and since it’s a Nexus devices, it is promised to receive future Android updates.

The Nexus 6P features a 5.7-inch WQHD display with Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and is powered by a Snapdragon 810 64-bit octa-core processor along with Adreno 430 GPU and 3GB of RAM. Moreover, it features 12.3-megapixel camera and 8-megapixel cameras. It is powered 3450 mAh battery. Like the Nexus 5X, it runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box.

October 16: Apple iPhone 6S and 6S Plus

Now that the new iPhones’ India prices are out, will we see smaller queues on stores? Remember this — iPhone 6 launch: Fans queue up across the world Well, highly unlikely. Regardless significantly higher price than the iPhone 6 launch price, we don’t expect lesser enthusiasm for the new iPhones.

The iPhone 6S features 4.7-inch LED-backlit HD display running at a resolution of 1334×750 pixels. It is powered by Apple’s A9 64-bit processor paired with M9 motion coprocessor. The iPhone 6s is available in three storage variants – 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. In terms of photography, the iPhone 6s sports 12-megapixels camera with True Tone dual LED flash. It supports 4K video recording and slow motion video recording 720p at 240fps. The front-facing FaceTime HD camera has also been improved to 5-megapixels. Other features such as Touch ID fingerprint sensor and Apple Pay.

The iPhone 6S Plus has a 5.5-inch full HD display. It is powered by A9 64-bit processor along with M9 motion coprocessor. It sports 12-megapixels with True Tone dual LED flash and OIS.

The camera also supports 4K video recording and slow motion video recording 720p at 240fps. The front-facing FaceTime HD camera has also been bumped to 5-megapixels with support for 720p video recording. It features a non-removable Li-Po battery along with connectivity options such as 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS. The iPhone 6s Plus will come shipped with Apple’s iOS 9 out-of-the box.

Other notable launches

Lenovo Vibe P1 and P1m

Lenovo is most likely to launch the P1 and P1m smartphones later this month. Launch date hasn’t been confirmed but it’s believed to be either October 19 or 20. The new Lenovo phones come with massive 5000 and 4000 mAh batteries respectively. It may be recalled Lenovo had already announced these phones at the IFA this year.

The Lenovo Vibe P1 features 5.5-inch full HD display, 1.5 GHz octa-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB internal storage, Android 5.1 Lollipop, 13-megapixels rear and 5-megapixels front facing cameras, fingerprint scanner, 16GB internal storage and Android 5.1 Lollipop.

The Lenovo Vibe P1m comes with 8-megapixels rear camera with LED flash and 5-megapixels front facing cameras. It supports dual SIM and 4G connectivity.

Meizu M2

Meizu has confirmed it will launch its m2 smartphone next week. The smartphone sports a 5-inch IPS HD display with resolution of 1280×720 pixels and Dragontrail glass protection to keep scratches at bay. The smartphone is powered by MediaTek’s MT6735 quad-core 1.3GHz Cortex-A53 processor, paired with Mali T720 GPU and 2GB of RAM. Also on the offer is 16GB onboard storage, which can further be expanded up to 128GB using a microSD card. So far there’s no word on pricing of the phone as yet.

October 8: Coolpad Dazen Note 3

October 8th is certainly going to be a busy day for technology journalists, bloggers and enthusiasts. After Gionee and Motorola, Coolpad has scheduled an event on the same day. The company has confirmed it will be showcasing its Dazen Note 3 smartphone in India.

The Coolpad Dazen Note 3 is expected to be targeted at the budget segment. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD IPS display. It runs Android 4.4 with Cool UI 6.0 on top. The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz MediaTek processor along with 2GB or 3GB of RAM. Other specs of the phone include 16GB internal storage, microSD support, 13-megapixels rear camera and 5-megapixels front camera, and 3000 mAh battery.
