The Asus Zenfone 3 Max 5.5 comes with a 4,100mAh battery that is claimed to offer up to 17 hours of talk time on 3G, and up to 19 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi.
The Asus Zenfone 3 Max 5.5 (ZC553KL) has been launched in India. Priced at Rs 17,999, the smartphone from Asus’ extensive range of Zenfones is available at select retail outlets and on all major online e-commerce portals. As the name suggests, the newly launched model boasts a 5.5-inch display.
Last month, the Taiwan-based smartphone maker launched a 5.2-inch variant of the smartphone, which is priced at Rs 12,999. The 5.5-inch variant is available in color choices of Titanium Gray, Glacier Silver, and Sand Gold. The mid-range smartphone boasts a full-metal, aluminum-alloy body. At the given price, the Asus Zenfone 3 Max 5.5 (ZC553KL) will take on popular handsets in the sub-Rs 20K range including the Lenovo Z2 Plus, Honor 8 Smart, and the LeEco Le Max 2.

Featuring a 5.5-inch display, the Asus Zenfone 3 Max 5.5 (ZC553KL) comes with a 2.5D contoured glass on top and offers full HD resolution at 1920 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood runs Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 octa-core 64-bit processor coupled with Adreno 505 GPU and 3GB of RAM. There is 32GB of internal storage, which can be further taken up to 128GB via microSD card.
For smartphone photography enthusiasts, the Asus Zenfone 3 Max 5.5 (ZC553KL) offers a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, five-prism lens, and offering features like laser auto focus, PDAF, Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and dual flash. It further offers shooting modes including super HDR, low light, panorama, and time lapse. One of the highlights of the smartphone is the 4,100mAh battery that comes with super saving mode and reverse charging support. The reverse charging feature allows one to use the smartphone as a powerbank to charge other devices. Asus claims that the battery can survive up to 38 days of standby time on 4G, 17 hours of talk time on 3G, and up to 19 hours of web browsing on Wi-Fi. It further comes with support for USB OTG, allowing one to transfer content as well as to connect to USB peripherals without the need for a standalone system. Other features include ICEpower enhanced speaker and dual microphone with noise cancellation.
Connectivity options include dual-SIM support through a hybrid slot, 4G LTE support, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, and a rear fingerprint sensor which is claimed to unlock in 0.3 seconds. On the software front, the Asus Zenfone 3 Max 5.5 runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with ZenUI 3.0 layered atop.
Competing device, the Lenovo Z2 Plus has a smaller display than the Asus Zenfone 3 Max at 5-inch offering full HD resolution. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor, the smartphone offers 3GB/4GB of RAM with storage choices of 32GB and 64GB. It further comes with 13-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel front snapper. It draws its juice from a 3,500mAh battery and comes with USB Type-C support. The Honor 8 Smart, which is priced at Rs 19,999, has on offer a 5.2-inch full HD display and under the hood, Huawei’s own Kirin 650 chipset coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage with storage expansion up to 128GB via microSD card. It further comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera along with an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow with EMUI4.1-based smartphone draws its juice from a 3,000mAh battery. The Zenfone 3 Max 5.5 has on offer a larger display, more RAM, battery power, and a higher megapixel rear camera.
Talking about the LeEco LeMax 2, the smartphone has on offer a 5.7-inch quad HD display. Powered by Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor coupled with 4GB of RAM, the LeMax 2 comes with 32GB of internal storage. One element where the Asus Zenfone 3 Max pales in comparison with the LeMax 2 is the latter’s 21-megapixel rear camera which is coupled with an 8-megapixel front snapper. It also features a rear fingerprint sensor. The smartphone houses a much lesser 3,100mAh battery but one that supports Quick Charge 3.0. It is priced at Rs 17,999.
