i've been running for a few days and cant say i've seen any instabilities. Google now crashed once or twice. besides that i'm good.......

when in download mode use vol up/down to scroll up n down nd power to select

How I updated my Galaxy SII i777 from GB 2.1.3 to Kitkat 4.4.2

1. Download Odin- http://odindownload.com/

2. Download and install Samsung drivers (if you have them installed (kies) skip to 3) http://androidxda.com/download-samsung-usb-drivers

3. Download and extract Stock Jellybean ROM I777UCMD8 4.1.2 http://uploaded.net/file/kprq3l8x/AT...I777ATTMD8.zip

1) “Extract” or “unzip” the downloaded stock ROM to get the .tar.md5 file.

2) Run Odin3_v3.07.exe on PC desktop

3) In Odin – DO NOT CHECK the RE-PARTITION check box, only both ‘Auto Reboot’ and ‘F-Reset’ left checked.

4) Click on the PDA button then browse to the folder where you extracted the stock file. That exact file is this: ‘I777UCMD8_I777ATTMD8_I777UCMD8_HOME.tar.md5′

5) Reboot the phone in download mode: To reboot the Galaxy S2 into download mode, you need to turn the power off. After it completely shut off plug USB cable into computer but not into phone yet. Hold Volume down and power button simultaneously and insert USB into phone to bring up download mode.

You’ll then need to press the Volume Up to continue. You’ll be prompted into a warning screen and asking you to press “volume up” if you want to continue or volume down to cancel, just simply press volume up to get into download mode. The download mode then displays an Android robot and say’s “Downloading... Do not turn off target!!”

6) Once the phone in download mode screen In Odin, the ID:COM box will change its color and it’s an indication that the device is connected properly to PC. If you still do not get any results, try another USB port on your computer.

7) Click the Start button to begin flashing.

8) Wait until it finishes or watch out for the word “PASS”.

(If you want you can do a factory reset by holding vol up/down/power and selecting wipe data cache and wipe data/factory reset, then reboot. Phone should be running JB now.

Next I updated to Kitkat 4.4.2 using an unofficial Custom ROM. (Yes I skipped ICS 4.0 and JB 4.3) I choose to use an AOKP ROM. Root was required for this update.

1. Download ROM Manager from play store.

2. Download and update CWM to latest version. This update will not work without the latest CWM.

3. Root phone using FRAMAROOT. http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps...-root-t2130276 . Install and chose the “aragon exploit” then the phone will ask for a restart and after that root access will be granted.

The following files were necessary to update. Download and copy to phone or sd card

Aokp rom
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/G...2014-04-14.zip

Google apps
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/g...215-signed.zip

Kernel, this is needed for the i777.
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/G...-03-22-CWM.zip

at this point it is very important that the latest CWM recovery is installed.

1. Reboot into recovery from the rom manager.

2. Scroll to install zip and select.-choose zip from-(whether from sd0 or sd1)-select rom zip file-confirm. Once finished choose “go-back”- advanced-reboot recovery-wipe data factory reset

3. Install google-apps, -install zip-gapps-confirm

4. Install kernel-install zip-kernel-confirm

Go back and reboot system now, and the phone should now be running 4.4.2
