How to find out the current price of Bitcoin



Bitcoin (BTC) is an innovative payment network and a new kind of digital money created in 2009. It is the original implementation of a concept known as cryptocurrency, which uses peer-to-peer technology to operate with no central authority or banks. Managing transactions and the issuing of bitcoins is carried out collectively by the network.

Bitcoin is open-source — its design is public, nobody owns or controls Bitcoin, and everyone can take part. Any developer can review the Bitcoin code, and create their own custom version of Bitcoin software. Coindesk Bitcoin Price Index (see Price)

The Coindesk Bitcoin Price Index (XBP) is calculated using an average of Bitcoin prices from leading global exchanges. Although the global exchanges that comprise the index are subject to change, the US Dollar XBP calculation currently includes Bitstamp, Bitfinex, BTC-e, Coinbase, itBit and OKCoin.  Using the Bitcoin Price Ticker Widget to display the price in this page, the current XBP Bitcoin price is:

Coinbase Bitcoin Price (see Price)

Coinbase is a Bitcoin wallet and platform founded in June 2012 in San Francisco, California, USA. Their stated mission is to “make payments more open and efficient for the world.” Coinbase includes a Bitcoin price and chart page on their web site. The Coinbase price is often included in indices such as the Coindesk Bitcoin Price Index. The page displays the current Bitcoin Buy Price and Sell Price, Bitcoin price over time, the change in price over the last 24 hours, the number of daily Bitcoin transactions (both on and off the blockchain) over time, and the Bitcoin Money Supply.

Bitstamp is a Bitcoin exchange headquartered in London, United Kingdom. It was founded in August 2011. The Bitstamp price is often included in indices such as the Coindesk Bitcoin Price Index.

BTC-e (see Price)

BTC-e is a Bitcoin, Litecoin, Namecoin, Novacoin and Peercoin exchange located in Bulgaria. It was founded in June 2011. The BTC-e price is often included in indices such as the Coindesk Bitcoin Price Index.

Bitfinex (see Market Statistics)

Bitfinex is a Bitcoin, Litecoin and Darkcoin trading platform incorporated in Hong Kong. They offer margin trading, exchange, and peer-to-peer margin funding. The Bitfinex price is often included in indices such as the Coindesk Bitcoin Price Index.

Google (see Price)

Google will display the current price of Bitcoin within its search results. The results work as both a currency calculator and currency converter. Just search Google for Bitcoin price!

Bing (see Price)
