The Windows version will come out over 18 months after initial console release.

If it seems like Rockstar is delaying the PC port of Grand Theft Auto V every month, that’s because it is… in 2015, at least. Rockstar has recently announced that the port has now been pushed back to April 14. The news comes just over a month after the developer promised a March 27 release for the revamped PC version. For context, previous Grand Theft Auto games have generally hit the PC about six to eight months after their initial console releases. By April 14, it will have been nearly 19 months since Grand Theft Auto V first launched on consoles (though April will only mark about six months since the game was re-released on the current generation of consoles).”Our apologies to PC gamers worldwide who have been counting down the days until the launch of the game, but a bit more time is needed to ensure that the game is as polished as possible, and to make certain that both Heists and the GTA Online experience are ready to roll out on day one for PC,” Rockstar announced on their blog. “As a gesture of thanks for your understanding, we will grant anyone who has pre-ordered the game an additional $200,000 in-game cash for use in GTA Online.” (Online heists are scheduled to launch for the console versions on March 10).Eager PC Grand Theft Auto fans have been “counting down the days” for quite a while now. For those keeping track at home, here’s a quick history of the rumors and announcements surrounding GTA V PC port release plans:

July 2, 2013: Rockstar states they don’t “have anything to share” about the possibility of a PC version.

October 7, 2013: Intel marketing chief Chris Silva says he doesn’t think the game “will be console exclusive very long.”

October 10, 2013: “Multiple industry sources” alert all to expect a PC version in the first quarter of 2014.

January 6, 2014: PC Gamer uncovers a bug log suggesting that development of a PC version has been going on since April 2009.

January 22, 2014: Amazon Germany and France briefly list a PC port with a March 31, 2014 release date.

February 1, 2014: As Q1 2014 looks less and less likely, a Czech retailer lists a June 13 release for the PC version.

June 9, 2014: At E3, Rockstar promises the PC version is coming “this fall” alongside Xbox One and PS4 re-releases (those new console ports actually made their deadline)

September 2, 2014: Newegg briefly lists a November 18 release date before replacing it with a placeholder.

September 12, 2014: Rockstar announces a planned release date of Janaury 27, 2015 for the PC version, the first ever official hard date for the port.

January 13, 2015: Just 14 days before the planned release date, Rockstar pushes it back to March 27.

Today: The latest delay, to April 14.

As for heists, Rockstar recently added the following statement to their press releases. “Over the next couple of weeks, we will have more information about the launch of Heists and about other new features that we will release with it.”

Like with the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 editions of GTA V, which arrived in November 2014, the PC version will support up to 30 players for GTA Online.

Rockstar has also revealed the recommended and minimum PC specs required to play the open-world crime opus.

At minimum, players will need 4 GB of memory and a quad core processor that runs at least at 2.5GHz. Rockstar suggests the ideal experience will require 8 GB of memory and an Intel core i5 chip (or equivalent), capable of running at 3.2GHz. The install size is 65 GB.

Rockstar also says the Windows edition supports up to 4K resolution, 60fps, and triple monitor configurations, as well as Nvidia 3D Vision.
