In Barcelona exhibition Mobile World Congress 2015, Intel introduced new mobile platforms, global LTE solution, innovative ways to interact with computers and a number of solutions for network infrastructure.

Intel introduced the Intel Atom x3 series (previously known under the code name Sofia). This is the first integrated communications platform from Intel for budget tablets and smartphones. Combining 64-bit multi-core Intel Atom 3G modules or 4G LTE, SoC application processor delivers image sensor, graphics, sound, communications components and power management – all in a single chipset.

This integration allows equipment manufacturers to provide a fully functional tablet and smartphones rapidly growing segment of the budget devices. Intel Integrated Architecture provides manufacturers and wireless communication with customers. Twenty companies, including ASUS and Jolla, has already announced devices based on Intel Atom x3 systems.

Complementing its mobile portfolio, which includes solutions for all categories of devices – from the budget after the most powerful, Intel introduced its first 14-nanometer chips Atom SoC family – Atom processors x5 and x7 series (codenamed Cherry Trail) for the next generation of tablets and 2-in-1 devices with small size. Of course they provide support for 64-bit Windows and Android, Intel graphics 8th generation connectivity option with the new generation of LTE Advanced.

Intel Atom x5 and x7 feed the machine with the middle and upper segments. These processors are “conflict-free”, which means that in their production they have not used minerals (tin, tantalum, tungsten and / or gold), whose production contributes to the financing of human rights violations in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

New Atom x7 offers up to 2x faster performance in the test GFXBench and 50% better performance in 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited relative to older models of the Atom Z3795

Leading manufacturers including Acer, ASUS, Dell, Lenovo, HP and Toshiba, have already announced the delivery of devices based on this platform. The first of these will appear on the market, probably in the first half of this year.

Intel also unveiled the third-generation five-mode, LTE Advanced Category 10. Intel XMM 7360 supports aggregation operators and offers download speeds of up to 450Mb / s. Its compact size and high performance allow you to install the Intel XMM 7360 modem in a wide range of devices, from smartphones and tablets and the PC. Intel extends thus its LTE portfolio, giving device manufacturers the ability to quickly design and marketing of LTE devices in different regions and market segments.

During MWC 2015 Intel also showed the concept of “pre-5G” that combines LTE with 802.11ad to deliver speeds greater than 1Gb / s, using a comprehensive technology from Intel.

Due to hardware and software solutions, such as the depth of the image detection technology, Intel RealSense, wireless charging and True Key technology developed by Intel Security, Intel continues its efforts to provide new, more intuitive, natural and engaging methods of user interaction with computer equipment.

Recalling the success of the world’s nano tablet, the Dell Venue 8, Krzanich presented the first information about the Dell Venue 10 equipped with a detachable keyboard and Intel RealSense. This tablet, designed for individual users and business, soon to be available.

As said Brian Krzanich, in addition to cooperation with Samsung for the protection of devices Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, Intel Security also works together with LG to secure the private data of users of mobile devices. LG Electronics will provide McAfee Mobile Security for Intel Security on the device LG Watch Urbane LTE , providing anti-theft features that allow the owner to lock, locate the device and, if necessary, remotely delete all data. Users of LG based on Android today benefit from the protection of McAfee Mobile Security.

Brian Krzanich announced new customers who make technology True Key, including Brightstar Corp., Deutsche Telekom and Prestigio. They will use the True Key to solve the problem of remembering passwords – passwords will be replaced with the identification of the face or fingerprint, which account will be easier and safer. Deutsche Telekom will pre-install True Key to its customers in Europe.

Prestigio is one of the first manufacturers of mobile devices, which will introduce the True Key in Russia and Europe, providing a solution for all of their smartphones and tablets with Android by the end of this year.

Brian Krzanich presented the way in which Intel is working with industry leaders to transform the network infrastructure using standardized hardware and software and helps to accelerate the transition to a flexible software-defined infrastructure. This enables communication service providers and cloud infrastructure improvement in network performance and accelerates the implementation of new consumer and business services.

Alcatel-Lucent provided the network Vrana, a solution based on Intel Xeon processors to achieve a savings and a simultaneous increase in network performance. Vrana will be tested by customers this year, and sales hit in 2016.

Ericsson has announced the next generation data center platform for Ericsson Cloud systems that allows telecommunications service providers and cloud lower total cost of ownership and achieve greater flexibility and efficiency. The company uses the Intel Rack Scale Architecture, along with software for management and orchestration to optimize and scale cloud resources in a cloud of private, public, industrial and telecommunications, ensuring the smooth functioning of the service. Ericsson also announced that it is partnering with Intel Security on security solutions for 4G networks.

Huawei and Intel collaborate on delivering reliable cloud solutions that enable telecom operators transforming their data centers. The companies will develop a new generation of Huawei FusionSphere, based on Intel architecture, and will use the Data Plane Development Kit and Open vSwitch to improve the performance of network virtualization FusionSphere. These solutions are designed to increase efficiency and reduce TCO in cloud infrastructure.
