WhatsApp for iOS has been updated to the version 2.12.14 that brings in support for a host of new features.

The highlight of the update is the ability to now share photos and videos with your contacts from sources beyond your camera gallery. Yes, the new update lets users share content from third-party apps and notably storage apps such as Microsoft One Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox and so on. The screenshot below shows the ‘choose from another app’ option right below the Gallery.

“You can now share photos or videos from other apps installed on your phone, like Google Drive, Dropbox, or Microsoft OneDrive. When you open “Photo/Video Library”, just tap “Choose from another app…”, the page reads.

The update also introduces an improved design for browsing photos and videos. Another update is the ability to zoom into video while they are playing. The update also brings the option to choose from solid colours as your background. The 72.5MB update requires an iPhone running iOS 6.0 or above. The update is now available for download from the Apple App store.

Recently, WhatsApp also announced that sometime this year it will be withdrawing support for BlackBerry devices (BB10 included), Symbian 40, Symbian 60, Android 2.1 and 2.2 devices and Windows Phone 7.1.
